Many of my acquaintances, friends, and family members know that we sold our home of 15 years as a short sale to prevent foreclosure and survived 1 year on a rookie teacher's salary and unemployment when my husband was laid off from the company where he worked for 13 years.  Fortunately, things have been getting better.  We found an affordable rental and my husband has returned to the work force (albeit as a contractor).  I was voted 2015 Rookie Teacher of the Year at my school.  I was also awarded one of only twenty scholarships sponsored by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the USA for a French teacher training program at CAVILAM in Vichy, France in June 2015.   The scholarship includes tuition, room and meals with a French host family, and partial transportation.
The funds raised on GoFundMe will pay for summer camp for my 2 beautiful children for 2 weeks, international airfare, commuting expenses in Vichy, purchasing educational materials, and other incidental expenses.
As a French teacher, my goal is to impart my passion for the French language and culture with my students.  I believe this trip will make me a more effective teacher and my students will benefit immensely from this experience.
