Supporting Family in Puerto Rico

Donation protected
If you've seen the news you know what's happening in Puerto Rico. While it's improving following two major hurricanes, things are still bad and it's not looking like it's going to change quickly.  So, we want to do our part to help from afar.

My granddad initiated the mailing of “care packages” with food and supplies from our family living in the States to his nephew (my mother's cousin), Pepito and Pepito's family, who live in Bayamon, PR.  We learned that our packages were taking 10-12 days to be delivered. Even USPS guaranteed “flat-rate Priority 3 Day packages” are still taking 10-12 days to arrive.   We knew that with the need being so great throughout the island, Pepito and Neri would share with neighbors and friends any extra food and dry goods they received. They are just that type of people.

Pepito works for Liberty Global in the Cable and Maintenance Division.  Recently, when asked if he thought he would leave Puerto Rico on account of the devastation, he replied (in Spanish) “At the moment I feel a great need by the people of Puerto Rico.  I have unique skills that will help many on the island.  No, I will not be leaving anytime soon.  The need is here and I will work to help the people in Puerto Rice in any way I can.”

Pepito and members of his family living Puerto Rico are:

- Jose “Pepito” Perez Lopez (my mom's cousin)
- Neritza “Neri” Concepcion Blanco (Pepito's wife)
- Andres A. Perez (son)
- Ariana Paola Perez Ortiz (granddaughter)
- Nereida Blanco de Jesus (grandma on Neri’s side)

They also have a son, Jose A. Perez Concepcion, who lives in Missouri and a daughter, Elizabet A. Perez Concepcion, who lives with her husband, SSGT. Alex Sanchez, USA, and who is stationed in Fayetteville, NC.

I listed $2,500 as a goal but really, there is no goal. We just want to help in any way we can and remind them we're thinking of them.  If you're not comfortable with monetary donations, they'll gladly accept food, batteries, medical supplies,  bug spray, candles, etc.

It's late but never too late to do a good deed. Thank you in advance for anything you're willing to contribute to Pepito and his family.

Sincerely,
Megan + Jason Roy and our Rodriguez family (my mother's parents)
