I am convinced more today that Laura would benefit from sessions with Susan Norwell of Rett Unversity. I would love to get Susan involved in Laura’s learning world, help us design home and school communication, and Susan is just the person to do it!
Help is help her get Susan get to Tucson!
Susan is an amazing person that specializes in students with complex learning needs (over 40 years experience), and more closely with those with Rett Syndrome (26 years experience). There is a belief system in place and I just know she can ignite anyone and everyone that she reaches. That she has done for me. I am just finally getting the guts up to see if I can gather some help to get her here. Teacher salaries are not great for these kind of efforts.
Laura is at a crucial stage in her life, 13 years of age, in 8th grade and will be launching a high school career soon. The best time to really ground her in practices for life after school.
It will take at least 2-3 days of instruction here in Tucson; sitting in class with her, sessions with therapists, and home study and yes, work!
Please help me help my baby girl connect with the wide, wide world of communication!
Our schools have a wonderful inclusion program, and as we all know, we are always learning, so let's bring in more people who can shed new light on difficult situations. Maybe it is said in a different way, a new strategy is seen, whatever the case. There is always something to be learned when talking with other specialists in a any particular field. This "conference" can come to us!
