Rescue Mom & Dad

My Mom and Dad moved to Magalia/Paradise CA 20 years ago. It was a place they could afford to live with their social security income as they retired.
4 years ago my dad began Dialysis 3x week for failing kidneys due to Diabetes. As time moves on my dad is now an amputee with end stage renal failure requiring full time care that my mom provides.  We fly from the east coast several times a year to help around the house and give support wherever it’s needed.  The house was set up with a wheelchair lift to help my dad get from the house to the car since he is unable to ambulate with one leg in his weakened state.  This fire- the Camp Fire in Northern California has taken Paradise and most of Magalia. Their home was destroyed in the raging fire that is still blazing and raging onward. My Dad is currently in a nursing home recovering from an illness and will need to be discharged in the near future. My mom has slept in her car and now in a hotel. She needs to be close to my dad because although the nursing facility will transport him to his dialysis, he only gets dropped off in the lobby. It’s up to the patient or patient’s caregiver to get him into his dialysis chair for his 4 hour treatment.  My mom cannot see at night so she needs to remain close to travel and for care purposes.  At this point my parents are homeless and I need to get them to the East Coast so they can live with us. Due to my Dad’s fragile state, we need to make provision for him during travel. Frequent stops to move his body, every other day dialysis will be arranged across country by his dialysis center, and handicapped accessible hotel rooms every night.  We will also need to rent a large vehicle to hold his wheelchair and allow for him to stretch out as much as he can. It will take, barring any unforeseen delays, approximately 8-10 days to get him to the East Coast. We will need to get my moms car here as well. We will look into cost comparison of paid transport vs. driving; this driving 2 vehicles across country. I have done this journey 4x. It’s the best option considering my Dad’s poor health.  If emergency care is needed en route, we have better options as we drive vs. a plane ride. Due to the pressurized  cabin my Dad isn’t a good candidate for flying.
They have lost literally everything. Wheelchair, clothing, health aids. They have 2 sets of clothing  as of today, food and medical care available. We need to get them to their new home in Massachusetts and we need help financially.  We have to outfit our home to make it accessible for my Dad.  We are rallying as much as a 6 person family can and pooling our resources but it’s  just not enough-fast enough. If you could please help. Help spread the word, give as you’re able.  If there is any money remaining after the move and set up - our plan is to donate it the victims of the Camp fire-to help enable others that have also lost their homes and possessions. Thank you!
