The Nigerian people especially women and children are constantly suffering and dying needlessly from various waterborne diseases. Recently, a Cholera outbreak happened in a Secondary School (Queens College, Lagos) in Nigeria killing students, rendered some ill and led to the temporary shut down of the school
In response to this, we need your help to raise $53,500 CAD to be able to provide 100 Nigerian communities - Villages and Schools with 100 LifeStraw Communities.
LifeStraw® Community is a high-volume point-of-use water purifier with built-in safe storage that provides safe drinking water for community, educational and institutional settings.
Built specifically for countries like Nigeria:
It can purify between 70,000 -100,000 liters of water, enough to serve community settings for several years.
Its hollow fiber filtration technology converts contaminated water into safe drinking water.
It consists of a 25 liter dirty water tank and a 25 liter safe storage tank: total capacity of 50 liters
The LifeStraw Community prevents waterborne disease such as diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, worms, and cryptosporidiosis.
It removes 99.9999 % of bacteria (E. coli, etc.) (>LOG 6 reduction); 99.99 % of protozoan cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium, etc.) (>LOG 4 reduction) and 99.999 % of viruses (Rotavirus, Hepatitis A) (>LOG 5 reduction).
