Reese's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Our beautiful niece was recently diagnosed with Joubert Syndrome; an extremely rare brain malformation characterized by the absence or underdevelopment of the cerebellar vermis- an area of the brain that controls balance and coordination-- as well as a malformed brain stem. There is currently no cure for Joubert Syndrome. The treatment is symptomatic and supportive, and includes physical, occupational and speech therapy, screening for progressive eye, liver and kidney complications, and monitoring of abnormal breathing patterns. The prognosis for infants with Joubert Syndrome depends on a magnitude of factors; some children have a mild form of the disorder, with minimal motor disability and good mental development, while others may have severe motor disability, moderate impaired mental development, and multi-organ impairments.
Jordan and Andy's first daughter, Hunter, was born with a congenital heart defect that required open heart surgery when she was 9 months old. They JUST finished paying off the medical bills associated with Hunter's condition, she is 6. Reese's medical expenses, thus far, have proven to be equally tremendous with a stay in the NICU, multiple ER trips due to breathing complications, countless doctor and specialist appointments, physical therapy, ultrasounds and MRI. Our goal of 15K for this fund will help pay the bills that have accrued thus far. Our hope is to help alleviate the stress that comes alongside the financial aspects of medical care. Moving forward Reese will require two eye surgeries, a breathing monitor, a cranial band, and multiple specialist/doctor appointments. While we are extremely optimistic about Reese's diagnosis, we know it will be very expensive. We wholeheartedly appreciate your generosity and concern for our Reesey!
