Re-Build The Barracks

On December 7th there was a fire in Lacie and Richards Queen St apartment which is located above their Art Studio; LVW Creative Barracks, a social enterprise that has served the community for almost two years. Lacie and Richard are huge supporters of the Dunnville community and a driving force in the arts and culture throughout Haldimand County, and donate whatever is needed to support local causes including money, supplies, their time and their space.
Despite firefighters' immediate response there is still substantial smoke, fire and water damage to the apartment and studio. They are committed to continuing all classes, workshops, day camps and special events they had planned for the holiday season. With the help of Stamp Bookkeeping Company they are able to work out of 131 Lock Street Dunnville, the old Dunnville Chronicle Office, however there are significant costs they weren't budgeting for.
Their insurance company will pay for the gutting and restoration of the studio and apartment. This will take months to a year to complete.
However, because they owned the building outright, they had no budget for rent, and their untitilies were very minimal.
The insurance company will not pay for the cost of rent for a new home, or the costs associated with renting a new studio space to continue business as usual.
The offer to donate furniture, clothing and appliances is appreciated but unwanted. They are staying with family and do not have storage space.
The outreach from the community has been astounding with so many people offering to help any way they can, and we are all so thankful.
As well Flyers Café is kindly collecting cash and gift cards for anyone not wanting to donate online.
They had planned a 3 week backpacking trip in January, and flights are booked and non-refundable. All we are hoping to do is help them create a financial cushion to open their new location, without having to give up their break they've worked so hard for.
