Raising the Roof for Artisans!

$1,965 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 31 people in 15 months
"Breaking the Mold: Preparing for a Prosperous Future!" is the overarching theme for the Artisan's Affinity Alliance inaugural conference in January 31 - February 4, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona!

This, according to Forbes magazine, "By 2020, 50% of the United States workforce will be independent, freelance, and on-demand workers. These workers will come in many varieties, including solo-preneurs, independent contractors, project specialists and consultants."

Following seven years of praying and listening, praying and researching, pondering and conducting interviews with artisans from every walk of life, Artisan's Affinity Alliance was officially launched in April 2017! Working in concert with Founder/Executive Director, Rev. Phyllicia Hatton, the Founding Board of Directors; Sidney Carter, Chairman of the Board, Edwin Lester, Vice Chairman, Helen Stubbs, Gracie Yelverton, Lynnette Jackson, Aaron Johnson, Madelyn McCraney, Kimberly Greene, Carmen Seldon-Scott, Regina and Thomas Jackson, Lee Bradley, Lynn Ware, Lisa Wallace, Ron Harris, and Stuart McLean, the mission of the association is to offer micro mobile business owners a plethora of experiences ranging from conferences, to festivals to cook-offs and whatever the imagination will take us!

The conference planners, Phyllicia and Janice Stofer understand the critical needs of a creative mind and what they require to sustain a thriving business, and therefore, are planning this exciting event with the mobile business owner in mind. Meaningful educational workshops, seminars and innovative sessions will be integrated into three days with the intention of presenting experiences of exploration! Unique to this industry, the conference will reveal new methods of starting, sustaining, building and growing micro businesses to help owners diversify and vary the range of their operations.

In addition to our immediate plans, the Artisan’s Affinity Alliance Founding Board of Directors are destined to provide pathways for their “progenies” through the development of a national emerging artists program. Face-to-face micro sessions will introduce this unique business model in a way that will encourage and provide support to the next generation of artisans as they begin the process of building a brand and a solid foundation for their futures.

We've launched this campaign to raise $5,000 to ensure this significant conference is achieved! Will you help us build sustainable businesses? Consider a thoughtful donation - $15, $20, $100 – any amount will help move us forward as we pave the way for existing and up and coming business owners!

We welcome you to become one of our first donors to help us build and grow today and beyond! Please share our campaign with customers, colleagues, family and friends.  Artians everywhere will be grateful. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness!

Relevancy in an Ever-changing Cosmos

The varying forms of art whether in the composition of music, the visual arts, the next highest box selling movie, clothing and accessory designs, the best scents (soaps, skin and haircare, perfumes, oils), trends in designs and more, micro business owners, without a doubt, and at the very least, must be relevant and always ahead of the norm.

Maintaining a competitive edge is half the quest for all business types; but, more so for the mobile micro business owner. Entering this space, these creative individuals must possess a variety of personal and professional characteristics in many facets of their existence.

Listed below are a few traits that rise to the top including:

Skilled in Sales. Natural or Learned? This is a similar question regarding “leadership.” Are people born a leader or can these skill sets be learned? Often, we hear “he/she is a born salesperson!” or “the ability to sell is in their DNA.” But, is that a true supposition? Initially, aside from being creative, the artisan should have the aptitude to exude confidence, display courage and commit to their objectives and that is to sell!

Interpersonal Dynamics is the Key! Artisans must possess the capacity to interface well with the public – their potential customers, consistently. One definition regarding interpersonal is defined as an individual who is versed in and can communicate well combined with keen listening proficiencies. Critical to their success also involves having the right attitude and deportment. Building rapport with people is necessary to win over the hearts of people at the drop of a dime!

Ability to Produce Sufficient Products. Artisans work day and night, week in and out, month after month and remain on the cutting edge producing new, innovative and eye-catching products.

The mobile business owner does not have the luxury of working with a team of people in an “office setting” where employees gather and explore how to keep a product FRESH!

To say that the creative person is not complex is a misnomer. Asking an artisan how they arrive at creating a new painting or image or blend colors, or a designer how the color and patterns are arranged in a space or inquire about the variations of jewelry designs, or how the photographer views the composition of an image and how the result materializes while viewing an object through a lens, is sometimes meaningless. The honest answer is – “It happens.”

To further enhance their capacities, Artisan’s Affinity Alliance has formed to offer support for the creative micro business owner primarily to help hone and improve existing skills and for some, to offering training in areas where they require improvements.

Extend your hand and donate TODAY or before August 15, 2017.

You will be helping thousands of professionals who travel from city to city, state to state, participating in one of your events – at church bazaars, professional conferences, fraternity and sorority conventions, sporting events, at fairs, festivals and markets!
