River City Sessions on the Road
Donation protected
For five years River City Sessions (RCS) has been helping beginning bands, authors and story tellers by giving them a platform to be heard at live performances and on radio on local NPR affiliates. We want to take it to another level.
In May RCS will be going to Ireland and Scotland to research and record traditional music and trace that music to the Appalachian Mountains. Many of the old time songs and stories we hear in the mountain regions have their roots in the old countries and we intend to trace those roots by recording them in both places.
Transportation and lodging is funded by a private source. Your generous donation will go toward off setting the expenses of paying performers, renting recording equipment, editing and mixing, and securing space for recording. The resulting recordings will make up two radio shows and be available for listening to all who donate.
We will be leaving in May and this campaign is meant to secure the funding by departure on May 2.
RCS has been a child of mine for five years. In that time 48 bands, 110 singer song writers, 38 authors and 14 storytellers have received a boost from performing on stage at RCS; some appearing for the very first time in public.
Your donation will secure a dream of connecting the dots of how music can be traced around the world. Indeed it is a thread of truth.
