Help Quib buy a Cintiq!
Hi! My name's Brent. Better known online as Quib!
If you're here, you're probably familiar with my work.... I draw cute things! Art is and always has been my passion. The one thing I've had that's made me the happiest throughout my life! I'm most at ease when I'm working to create something, especially things others can enjoy. Recently I've had the chance to take the very scary step towards sustaining myself entirely through my art... So far it's been encouraging and profitable. The response I've received has been incredible. I want to be able to produce content people can enjoy for as long as the internet will let me... And that's where gofundme comes in.
The tablet I use for all of my work is a cintiq 21ux, first generation... ancient and borrowed and literally 15 years old. I don't actually own it... I'm borrowing it from a sympathetic ex coworker whom I no longer work with. And I can't use it forever. It's showing it's age, at 15 years, and was not designed for the operating system it's running on. The drivers continuously need reinstalling... I've been terrified to upgrade to Windows 10 on the chance I won't be able to use it anymore. And eventually, I'll have to return it to its owner. In order to maintain this lifestyle of supporting myself by creating art for people to enjoy, I'll need reliable tools that I won't have to worry about failing me, that I actually own.
A cintiq companion 2 is the ideal solution. They're expensive... Far more than I could ever hope to afford on my own. The cheapest model is $1300... But the price would be worth such a meaningful upgrade to the tools at my disposal. With this, I could hope to create art for years to come with current, industry standard equipment. I've dreamed of owning one for years, and I'm finally in a position where I would make the most use out of it... To directly use to support myself through art.
The internet has always been kind to me. For a year now I've been showcasing my work and the attention, acceptance, and sheer affection my followers have given me has been... Unreal. I couldn't ask for a better experience. You all have done so much for me by showing the care you do. Even if this campaign doesn't raise a single cent, I'd still feel blessed beyond words by my followers. If you are compelled to help me reach my goals, you mean so much to me I cannot begin to express. You'd be literally helping me live my dream of being a self employed artist. If you made it this far reading my case, thank you for your time and attention. I value it greatly.
There's no obligation for this... I'm still going to do my best all the time. My art isn't going anywhere. This is a way to try and make sure I can keep the pace I have with my work and to preemptively deal with the problems old equipment will inevitably give me. And if you do decide to donate out of the goodness of your heart, I'll try to do something nice for you too... See me in my stream or send me an email and I'll draw something for you. I want to show my thanks any way I can.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
