Funeral Costs for Quintonio Legrier
Quintonio Legrier was a bright and promising young man. As a high school student he had good grades, was a natural leader and even ran the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon with a group of his classmates from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep to raise funds to bring clean water to children in Africa. (through the charity Team World Vision)
It is rare to find adults with enough courage and compassion to take on the challenge of a marathon on behalf of the poor let alone a teenager. He, and his other Brooks High School teammates were incredibly INSPIRATIONAL.
Quintonio was taken from this world on Saturday, December 26th when he was struck and tragically killed by a Chicago police officer.
In an effort to honor him and help his family while they grieve we are trying to raise the full amount of his funeral and memorial costs of $15,000.
Your gift will go to House of Branch Funeral Home (Chicago, IL) but will be appreciated by Quintonio's family, friends and classmates.
Thank You
I just wanted to again say thank you for your generous donations. Your support was a huge blessing to the family of Quintonio and they where able to lay him to rest this past Saturday.
In the spirit of full transparency I want to keep you all posted on how the funds will be withdrawn and applied:
I have been in close contact with the Antonio Legrier (Quintonio's father) through D'Andre Weaver (the principal of Brooks College Prep). I have recieved written approval from Mr. Legrier to withdraw the funds from gofundme and then pay the funeral home with the funds via a certified check.. thus paying down his bill for the funeral.
I plan to fully document the transactions including pictures of the transactions an itemized receipt from the funeral home. If anyone wishes to see those documents I am an open book and would love to provide them to you, at your request, after the transactions are made.
Just want to stay transparent and above reproach in order to honor your giving and continually honor the life of this young man.
Grateful,
Rusty Funk
