Plano Citizens 4 Strong Neighborhoods is a Political Action Committee (PAC) formed with Planofuture.org (PlanoFuture) for the purpose of requiring a city-wide referendum on the ordinance adopting the Plano Tomorrow Plan.  We believe the City's claim that a referendum is not allowed is a gross misrepresentation of the law.  Unfortunately it appears we will have to take the City to court to prove them wrong. Funds raised in this campaign will be used to defray costs in support of a referendum, including expected legal fees and printing.  The spending will be accounted for and reported in accordance Texas state law for PACs.

We gathered petitions with the signatures of over 4,000 registered voters - more than twice the number required to force a referendum.  After the City's refusal to count our petition signatures, legal action is being taken.  See the Update #3 regarding the lawsuit filed in February 2016.

March 8: On the very last date possible the City of Plano and its representatives filed a general denial of the legal action to compel the City to count the petitions to require a referendum on the Plano Tomorrow Plan. A copy of the filing can be found on the PlanoFuture website www.planofuture.org. A general denial is a standard response, which merely states the City generally denies everything we claimed, but does not provide any support for its position.

The plaintiffs will continue to move forward to compel the City to withdraw the Plan or allow the citizens to vote on it. We will update you as this moves forward. The city is ignoring what its citizens have stated repeatedly for a year and a half--that they do not want the Plan--and is using your tax dollars to fight you.

A lawsuit has been filed against the City of Plano and Plano officials on behalf of several of our members. The suit aims to compel Plano officials to comply with their obligations under the City Charter in connection with the handling of a petition calling for a referendum on the Plano Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan. See our Website, www.planofuture.org for a copy of the lawsuit and more updates.

To all the citizens of Planofuture.org - We will win this battle to make the city recognize the 4,057 signatures on our petitions. It only required 1,861 signatures to force a referendum on this issue - we more than doubled that requirement in two weeks time!!

We are starting this campaign because the city is contesting the citizens' ability to call for a referendum on the new Comprehensive Plan. Our attorneys tell us the city's position is wrong but we will need funds to take this action to court.
