Patty's Fight 4 Her Life

Pattananwon Korranee, known to all as Patty, became our stepmother 15 years ago when she emigrated from Thailand and married our dad.
Despite the language barrier, we learned everything we needed to know about Patty just from the warm and positive energy she exuded. She is passionate about life, generous with her time and she gets the most pleasure out of making others smile, whether by sharing the customs of her country or the outstandingly delicious Thai dishes she prepares, with us. In return, she has appreciated and been humbled by the warmth and acceptance that she has felt from her new family and friends in Canada.
In January 2016, after many months of being treated for a persistent cough and fatigue, Patty was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with enlarged lymph nodes. Given the fact that she has never smoked, this came as a complete shock, and was devastating for her family. She returned to Thailand for treatment, and is in good hands right now and fighting hard. Because she is such a positive force, Patty's smile never fades, and she is treating her cancer like it is just a glitch in the road that she will overcome.
Patty completed the first round of chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments on March 22nd. The severe chest burns from the radiation affected her ability to eat solid food, but they are now healing and Patty is working hard to regain her strength by doing daily treadmill exercises.
Good and hopeful news: After a visit to her oncologist last week, Patty learned that the tumor has shrunk and there is no sign of metastasis to the other organs. BUT, Patty will now undergo a more aggressive form of Chemotherapy that will require overnight hospitalization. Because she lives 7 hours from the hospital, Patty will need to find lodging close to the hospital for the next couple months. She will undergo a follow-up CT scan in June to see how she is responding and to decide whether or not she will also require more radiation.
We have given a lot of thought as to what we can do to help. Patty's medical expenses are very high and although she has not asked for help, we know that she needs it. We have set up this site and hope to reach all the people who know Patty, have been touched by her, and who might like to help make her life more comfortable and less stressful while she fights to overcome this disease, by making a donation. There are are no expectations attached to this request, if you are unable to donate we simply ask that you share this page with others. Please know that no amount is too small and 100% of all money gathered will go directly to Patty's care.
