Patsy Lane Smith Cancer Fund

Hi! I grew up in the L/A area and attended Edward Little HS. I moved away my senior year, lived abroad as a military wife and returned to Maine in 2002.  Single, I became part of a terrific community,  teaching Algebra at Durham Community School and loving every moment I have had getting our youth excited about the magic of numbers. I absolutely love being a teacher but over the last year I became a student, learning how to fight breast cancer.

I had plenty of sick days available and great insurance to help on the journey, but in a twist of fate, as I planned to return to my classroom this fall,  I was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Now, I need to ramp up my game plan but my job and insurance are not going to be able to follow me in this next phase. I am asking for your help with my medical, insurance and other expenses until MainePERS/Disability kicks in and I can walk, run, fly to the finish line…back in front of my students!
