Be careful what you wish for. It might just come true...

Many years ago, I wished that I could be of service somehow. I just didn't know exactly how that would manifest.

And then the stars aligned and I found myself on the receiving end of a large grant from Expedia  that would allow me to give the gift of travel and global citizenship -- by way of passports and trips -- to America's underserved girls. By way of The Passport Party Project. Because underserved teen girls deserve to travel. They deserve to have their wishes come true too.

And then the stars lined up yet again and saw fit to acknowledge my service work with awards & accolades from the likes of the United States Bureau of Consular AffairsNational Geographic, American Express Passion Project, TravelChannel.com, Huffington Post, G Adventures , etc.

Always unexpected and always humbling, I value their ability to help me get the word out; so instead of being bashful, I share the accolades unabashedly in the hopes that someone else will find The Passport Party Project worthy of their travel gifts. As I'm sure you know, I simply cannot do this alone.

And here we are -- after two successful campaigns -- gearing up for Phase 3, and I'm not sure where the time went, but I'm sure there are some teen girls out there who got their first passports via The Passport Party Project whose thought patterns have been changed, even if just by an inch or so. Because as you know, inches become yards, and yards become miles, and so on and so on...

Simply put, your monetary gift helps foster travel dreams and helps create global citizens. Being a part of that growth is priceless. Take it from me.

Phase 3 is set on taking 15 girls to Toronto in June 2016 for an adventure like no other that includes a lifelong lesson in traveling with heart. We need $1,000 per girl. But we also need $5 a girl; $15 a girl; $55 a girl; $115, $555, etc. Bottom line? We need your help. To see our full Wish List, please click here .

Behold, the power of the passport. #powerofthepassport

I'm leaving for Toronto 30 days from today with 2 college students and 15 newly-minted passport holders and budding global citizens. And I'm excited.

There are a lot of details to tend to when managing a youth group, so you can probably imagine how much movement there is in my life right now. But I ABSOLUTELY wouldn't have it any other way. =)

When it comes to the funds gifted to these 15 Teen Travel Ambassadors so far, I'm BEYOND grateful to you and am humbled by your generosity. Giving is a choice and you chose The Passport Party Project. I hope you know how much it means to everyone involved. #realtalk

Each Teen Travel Ambassador was required to do some type of fundraising activity so as to have a stake in her adventure and each family paid a supplement towards the cost of this journey to Toronto.

Our sponsors (Toronto Tourism, Heys Luggage, Porter Airlines, Francesco's Limousine, National Geographic Maps, Niagara Parks, Hornblower Niagara Cruises and CityPASS) are travel brands with heart who clearly believe in the #powerofthepassport.

The gifts from this GoFundMe page have paid for the house rental! Woo hoooooo! The house rental costs 3000 Canadian dollars, which was reduced by an owner who also believes in the #powerofthepassport and insisted (once again) on hosting the Welcome Meal for our girls. Isn't that awesome?! (She also demanded that I give her my grocery list so she can shop for us because our flight gets in so late. She is WONDERFUL.)

There are, of course, more trip expenses, but some are being covered by a Passport Party Project account balance and the rest will be covered by me.

If you would like to help me feed 18 hungry people for 7 full days, I promise I wouldn't be mad at you. #bigsmile

Thanks for listening...and for being a believer. #travelchangeseverything #theworldisyours

I NEVER stop thinking about The Passport Party Project. Even when I'm thinking about how to make sure my 25 Paris guests are getting whatever it is they need to have a really good time here in France.

Soon, I'll be announcing the 15 girls that were selected for Phase 3 of The PPP (during International Education Week this month) and I'm super excited for you to meet them.

In the meantime, my assistant Gina sent me a copy of a letter I got in the mail back in the U.S. that made my day. Not just because there was a travel gift enclosed, but because of the positive energy that accompanied it. Besides the girls that I get to help along the way, these kinds of letters add fuel to my passport fire. =D

"In September, on our way to South America, my husband handed me the American Way magazine and said, 'You are going to want to know bout this program.' Indeed! I am a well-heeled traveler, who taught at the College of Micronesia in 1989-90; co-parented three Micronesian kids for 13 years+; and have taught Intercultural Communication...for the past 25 years. Keep up the amazing work." #checkenclosed

Yesterday, I sent an email to the 15 Teen Travel Ambassadors that were selected to participate in Phase 3 of The Passport Party Project. We'll be announcing those who complete the post-application process during International Education Week (November 16-20, 2015), which is SUPER befitting since this year's theme is Access For All. You can probably imagine how lively my email inbox was for most of the day yesterday.

Today, however, I sent out the email telling the rest of the applicants that they were not selected and asked them to please apply for Phase 4. Gah. Not my favorite thing to do by far.

The cool thing about having a growing initiative is that The PPP Travel Mentors had a lot more great entries to choose from this year. The not-so-cool thing is that we can't pick everyone. I wish you could have seen some of the exchanges between me and the Travel Mentors serving as judges. They were heartbroken. It is difficult to disappoint children when you want ALL OF THEM to have the world.

We did select 5 alternates (in the event any of the selected girls cannot complete the program) and I made the decision a few days ago that all 5 of those alternates will be gifted with their very first passports. =)

And now here we are; excited for EVERYONE'S future whether they are traveling to Toronto with us or not. Because we know it doesn't start and end with The Passport Party Project. In fact, it starts and ends with YOU. So please, if your loved one (or you!) doesn't have a passport, go get one. Just having that Little Blue Book changes everything. Believe it.

We believe in the #powerofthepassport. Do YOU believe?
