Paradise Animal Shelter: Storage/Animal Space/Othe

URGENT! As you all know, Paradise, CA was completely devastated by the Camp Fire. Now that emergency animal rescue groups are transitioning out, the animals need to be sent to local shelters in order to continue the efforts to reunite them with their families. There are well over 500 animals still trying to be reunited with their families! The Paradise AC & Shelter is one of those shelters, but is very small. They will be taking all the animals they can fit as they understand the difficulty for families to find their animals when they are located all over California, especially when those that lost their homes have no computers, internet, phones, or in some cases, vehicles to be able to search for their animals. This no kill shelter is funded by a small measure and sales tax, but with no businesses, no residents... there is no sales tax to be collected. This is why this fundraiser is so important.
STILL LEFT TO ACCOMPLISH
1. Purchase or Rent additional mobile office space that can be used to house more animals: THIS IS WHERE WE NEED MORE URGENT ASSISTANCE. The Paradise shelter is FULL after taking in another 30 cats over the weekend, and all the other local shelters are also full. Paradise Animal Shelter now needs more space so they can continue to take in more animals that are needing shelter and that have been recovered from the burn area. We are working on obtaining one or more mobile units that have lighting, ventilation, windows, and regular doors… a skeleton mobile office like you might find on a construction site. This is the quickest and easiest way to obtain space, but we are looking at other options as well. We need funding, and quickly to determine if we can buy or rent. Renting makes more sense since placement of these mobile units will be in existing space and would likely need to be removed in the future when the need is gone. Buying is still an option though if we can find the right fit and it turns out to be less expensive and can be placed in a location that can be permanent. SO… this ask is to raise funds to cover the rent or purchase of additional space for animals for up to a years’ time, and all other associated costs like power cables, heaters and power usage, and additional supplies related to setting up the inside with crates, and all other necessities.
2. Ongoing… continual fundraising to be able to purchase items the shelter has immediate needs to care for the animals. Since there will be little to no funding, they will have to survive on donated items, and funding to purchase the items that are not donated.
ACCOMPLISHED SO FAR WITH THIS CAMPAIGN
1. DONE! Purchase a Conex Storage Container: We have raised enough money to buy a desperately needed 40’x8’ Conex storage container so that the shelter could remove all the supplies from inside the building and move them to storage to make room for more animals. It has been purchased and has been delivered to the Shelter. See updates for photos.
2. DONE! Purchase shelving, stackable storage, and storage bins: We have raised enough money to purchase these supplies and they are in place. See updates for photos.
3. ONGOING! Purchase other supplies on ongoing as needed basis: Continually purchasing supplies, like cleaning supplies, garbage bags, clip boards, hoses, dog and cat food, cat litter, etc… See updates for photos.
I am a volunteer who has been working with the animal disaster group, caring for the animals, and helping with reunification. My goal is now to help assist the Paradise AC & Shelter get back on their feet and do what's right for the pets of the Paradise community.
