Panther Bots Are Going To Worlds!

The Panther Bots
Well, our scrappy little robotics team did it!! They came out of nowhere this year and surprised a city!! They beat incredible odds and faced challenges that they never imagined. It has been an exciting journey, but we don't want it to end. We are looking for help finance our trip to the Vex IQ Robotics World Championship.
These 5 fourth graders are from Pleasant Run Elementary and have worked hard to design and create a robot to complete the Vex IQ Crossover Challenge. Their competition includes team challenges, skills driving, autonomous programmed driving, and a STEM reasearch project about self-driving cars. They led every competition they went to and won the following top awards:
*The Excellence Award at the City Tournament- All-Around Champions
*The STEM Research Award at Blue Academy- Best Research STEM Project and Presentation
*First Place in the Team Challenge at Plainfield- Highest Points with an Alliance
*The Skills Award at Shortridge- Highest Points Individually (including programming)
*The Excellence Award at Shortridge- All-Around Champions
*The Create Award at Indiana State Championship- Best Robot Design
With our recent win at the Indiana State Championship, our Panther Bots have the opportunity to go to Worlds. These students poured their hearts into this program. They stretched themselves and learned so much. They developed a fire for robotics and and it will be exciting to see where it takes them. Going to Worlds would open their eyes to future possibilities and hopefully inspire them to keep their passion going toward college and STEM careers.
We are looking for individuals to help with the cost of travel, lodging, food, and replacement parts for our robot. Our school is a Title One urban school, with 85% of our students receiving free and reduced lunches and we need to raise all the money for this opportunity. We are trying to create an experience that our Panther Bots will never forget. Will you please help these amazing kids get to Worlds??
I came to do donate, too! And I still would, so your school can have enough money banked for 3 or 4 teams next year or improve the materials you have. Keep shooting for the stars and learning! Those kids who yelled mean things at you are either going to have to realize this world is moving on with or without them! They can either get it together or step aside.
I read your article and I came to donate but you have already met more then your goal. I want you all to know how proud I am of you for overcoming Diversity and not letting anything stand in your way as a minority and an Educator this makes me so proud I wish nothing but the BEST for you all and I am praying for a WIN at WORLDS. Go show them that all of us matter too!!! Much love and respect, Anna Gongora Corpus Christi, Texas
Wanted to help out so badly, but happy to see the enormous support you guys have received from all over. Stay focused, and kick butt on at the world competition! So, so proud of you all! Regardless of origin, race, skin color, what makes you stand above the rest is your respect for others, and your ability to overcome any obstacles. Great job!
Panther Bots you Rock! I too was late to donate as you have met your goal. I will contribute to the techpointyouth, org program that supported you. Don't look behind you or beneath you as that is where you will find the haters & bullies. The future is yours. With your smiles, your smarts and attitude you will go far in life. THIS is only the beginning.
Hey Panther Bots! You guys sound awesome and are a real example of how to deal with ignorance in others. Your grit and strength of character makes me excited about the next generation. Congratulations and I know you'll kick behind at Worlds! Prof. Heather Correa Mt. San Antonio College
I came here to donate after reading your story, but fortunately you have reached your goals, and unfortunately you are no longer accepting donations. I would have been happier if I could donate to that school and others like it to encourage those same kids who may not have the opportunity to show their skills in such competitions....Congrats Panther Bots for your efforts, as it shows with those against you, your skin color does not determine your intelligence level.
I have been following your story from Connecticut where I live. I am so happy for you and the wonderful success you have achieved. You, your family and teachers are bursting with pride and you should be!! I am proud and I don't even know you!! That was a lot of hard work to become so smart! Really awesome. You are much smarter than I was when I was your age. It made me sad and a little bit mad that people were mean to you. But those mean people don't have a Go Fund Me Page do they? Ha! I don't like mean people. I like nice people who are kind to each other and help each other when it is needed. I like good sportsmanship, friendly smiles, and high fives. So I guess I am writing to say I LIKE YOU! And I really think there are a lot more nice people in the world just like us. And you will meet many of them. So good luck with your next competition. I am rooting for you! You are already champions. Signed.....another nice person
Salutations from Finland. This made my eyes sweat. Absolutely wonderful. Your quintet of pocket-sized geniuses seems to have gained worldwide support and you deserve it. And more.
I came to donate but saw that you were no longer accepting donations. I just wanted to say: you guys rock. You are so strong and smart and hardworking, and I can't wait to see what rad robots you are all creating ten or twenty years from now. Keep engineering the future!
I saw an article about the abuse these beautiful young people had to deal with (and they dealt with it so well!) so I came to donate. Happy to see you hit your funding target, sad to see I couldn't help. Can you contact people or post if you re-open another funding drive? Go PantherBots!
Congratulations! Keep striving to reach your goals! You are what makes America great.
I came to donate and I am so happy that you have reached your goal. I was moved by your story, and wanted to show you that those of us who embrace diversity and love far outnumber the haters and the racists, who will never win and will never represent this country. I hope that you do well at Worlds, and I will be watching for future wins from this team. Please know that you have a friend in upstate New York who is rooting for you! Let us know what you need! You make us all proud! Go Panther Bots!
Donated to TECHPOINT FOUNDATION FOR YOUTH in honor of the Panther Bots. Science Rocks and so do you!!
I wish I could still donate to your team. I read your story in the Indy star and I was absolutely shocked. I am black and my fiancee is Hispanic. I love the diversity of your team. Keep shooting for the stars and do not let anyone bring you guys down.
I came to donate as well, but looks like you all are well on your way! So proud of you for working hard and staying kind, even when people are rude to you. You will go far. Lots of love from Vancouver, WA.
