Who
Hi there, I'm Phyllis A. Taylor and I have created this campaign and video to ask for your help! Your contributions will allow me to complete a nine month training program I've begun which will enable me to help educate, empower and catalyze the lives of other women through my intentional creativity work.
Why
I am calling my journey “I Rise UP 70”.
“I Rise Up” because all of my life I have been creative, there's not been a time when I've not drawn. Even though there have been times I've never acknowledged my artistic abilities nor called myself an artist. I drew my children and sometimes other peoples children but rarely showed my portraits to anyone.
Decades passed with small tentative forays into being an “artist”. Even working in graphics or marketing departments did not push me out of my comfort/fear zones. Not until these past five years when I had no one else to focus care on but me did I begin to transform my own life and claim "I AM AN ARTIST"! In six years I've won five awards and had my art published...twice!
This is also the year I will turn 70 years of age....."I Rise Up 70”. I am focused on answering this call to service, having the courage to do my best, the willingness to learn as I go and the integrity of knowing I am capable of both ordinary and extraordinary accomplishments.
Service
I want to create art and art experiences which help women, in particular, recognize their creative
potential; As creators, women can manifest and celebrate their potential in ways that would make the world a more beautiful, joyful, loving and abundant place for all.
I wish to work with those who carry wounds buried so deeply within they seemingly have forgotten the wounds are there. We have all been hurt, experienced trauma, witnessed losses, felt pain that comes with just living life. I wish to use this visual creative process to create openings within allowing for transformation to take place, changing the unspeakable into release, exhilaration and/or joyfulness.
I, myself, am witness to the healing power of art and how it saved my life in the early 2000's. I began then to teach some of the healing I experienced through art but knew I wanted/needed to learn more. I am dedicated and purposeful toward achieving my goal. I am confident that I am being guided to the people, places and circumstances that will help ensure my success in serving and teaching others.
What
The cost of the entire nine month program is $12,000. I've begun the program and want to see it through to completion. Any amount of monetary contribution given will be greatly appreciated as I recognize I cannot do this alone.
