Everyone meet Sunshine!
Sunshine is a 10 month old pit bull mix that arrived at Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) March, 31 2017. Sunshine has a story, most of which we will never know… Sunshine has endured trauma to her front legs; possibly from abuse, at the very least from negligence. She has lameness in both front legs due to breaks in her growth plates, causing the deformity and awkward gait.
Sunshine is strong! She runs as best as she can, she plays, she loves! But as Sunshine has put the tragic event behind her there is no question that she is in pain; a pain that will only intensify with time and further growth. So, for her long-term health, she will need to endure some short term discomfort…
Surgery on both front legs will be needed. Her legs will need to be re-broken and set in a cast, one at a time, and will need special medical care from JCAS’ Doctor Cathy Anderson afterwards until healed properly. With an invasive procedure like this comes expense; about $3000 per leg.
This is where we need your help! Unfortunately, JCAS does not have the budget to support surgeries like this for Sunshine or other animals in their care such as Butkas and Dillon. Therefore, Pixie Animal Welfare Society Rescue (PAWS) is fundraising to raise the money to pay surgeries like this. This GoFundMe Account will stay open for as long as possible to raise money for JCAS animals that need additional medical care beyond the scope of what JCAS’ budget allows.
JCAS Staff care, bearing both physical and emotional burdens to change lives on a daily basis. They need your help to help these innocent dogs get a second chance at a healthy life!
