Owen Dailey is my best friend's husband and family friend. They would never ask for help, but as a close friend I feel that to ease some financial stress during Owen's healing would be one less burden they would have to think about. Her brother wrote this amazing description on their situation:
On Friday December 2 Owen was involved in an explosion while working on Vashon Island. This explosion occurred midday when Owen was at work for Amerigas. The actual cause of the explosion is still being investigated, however Owen has a long road of recovery ahead. The explosion left Owen badly burned on over 20% of his body. Immediately following the initial explosion, and already badly burned, Owen selflessly moved 2 propane trucks away from the building to protect the safety of others and avoid additional damage and destruction. Owen was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he is still under care for the treatment of his burns. Most of his burns are 3rd degree burns that have deeply impacted his head, face, neck, hands, and legs. A lot is unknown about where Owen’s road to recovery will take him from here. However, what is known is that it will be long, serious, and require patience and prayer. Owen is getting excellent medical care at Harborview and really is in the best hands possible, but the stay is expected to be anywhere from 2-4 weeks of hospitalization.
Many of you have asked what you can to support the Dailey family during this challenging time and the road to recovery. Owen and Michal have 2 young children Bradlee, age 8, and Bodee, age 6, that are attempting to live life as normal during this Christmas season. Owen, Michal, Bradlee, and Bodee live in Puyallup and the trip for the family to be with Owen is nearly 40 miles each direction -- not to mention the traffic to get there. Harborview also requires payment for parking. As you can imagine the financial expenses associated with Owen’s medical care, travel for the family to be with him throughout this time, extended absence from work, and added expenses from this life event are certainly a strain and time of uncertainty for the entire Dailey family. We know that this time of year is a financial challenge for many families, so please do not feel obligated to give. However, any assistance and support you can provide is very much appreciated.
