Meet Oscar Frasser.
Up until 11/14/2010 Oscar lived a normal, independent life. He had a good job, a girlfriend, a house, friends and could do many things that most of take for granted. Basic everyday tasks like going to bathroom on his own, driving a car, walking, and talking.
However on Sunday, November 14th 2010 Oscar suffered a massive stroke from an AVM in his brain stem. The last 5 years of Oscar's life has been anything but easy. During that time he has had over 15+ surgeries and countless doctor appointments.
He spent the first 2 years after his stroke in a comatose state. He could not move at all on his own and would occasionally respond by blinking an eye. The 3 years after that have been a bit of a roller coaster; however, the last year Oscar has shown much improvement.
Oscar still cannot lead an independent life; however, he can now talk, move all extremities, eat and drink. He is learning to walk again with the help of Project Walk.
Here is where Oscar needs your help - he needs help paying for his new handicap accessible van so his caregivers (MOM & DAD) can take him to all of his appointments. His old van started having too many problems, broke down, and became completely unreliable. As you can imagine these handicap vans can be expensive. His parents are trading in the old one but it will not cover the cost of the new van which is $37,000. Oscar also needs help paying for his physical therapy at Project Walk ($110/hr) which is not covered by insurance.
Please help Oscar get to his appointments so he can continue to rehabilitate and hopefully learn to walk again one day. He has been working so hard and your continued support no matter how small is a big help. If you are unable to contribute financially, prayers, a phone call, or a visit is much appreciated as well.
