"Of One and The Other"- A Fine Art Photography Book.
Website: www.jayantiseilerphotography.com

My name is Jayanti Seiler and I have been creating a fine art photographic series for over 5 years titled, “Of One and The Other”.  I am asking for funding to self publish a limited edition high quality fine art book consisting of text and over 50 images from my project.

What's the book about?
My GOAL is to inspire consideration of the complexity and depth found in DIVERSE RELATIONSHIPS between ANIMALS and PEOPLE from points along the spectrum spanning the chasm from lifesaving to exploitation. The series developed out of my long-term dedication to wildlife rehabilitation and rescue where I seek to raise awareness regarding the complexity of human-animal relationships to impart a greater CONSIDERATION and RESPECT for our fellow inhabitants of this planet who are unable to speak for themselves. The well-being of animals has been a LIFELONG PASSION of mine, which initially compelled me to apply my craft to explore a myriad of human-animal engagements ranging from falconers who practice the sport of hunting with birds of prey, 4-H youth that auction their livestock for profit and slaughter, owners of exotic big cats, sanctuaries that care for abused wild or domestic animals, traveling safaris, zoos, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centers, taxidermists, and encounters for profit.

The book promises to RAISE AWARENESS about the complexity of human animal relationships and promote animal welfare and awareness. I want to create this book, not as a culmination of the project, but a means to propel this message farther. The book will be SOLD and DISTRIBUTED at future exhibitions and venues where these images can make a difference and create a dialogue as they already have done in the publications and shows. The book is in production and near ready to go to print. I have a professional writer named, Stephanie Turner, who is a professor at the Rhetorics of Science, Technology, and Culture Program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she writes about animals in visual culture.

Seeking funding towards the book as well as...
For a solo exhibition of the work at Workspace Gallery in Nebraska scheduled for January 2018, which will be a great venue for distribution of the book. The funding will go towards the printing and framing of the images for the exhibition. I intend for the project to EXPAND beyond Florida in order to cover a broader scope of animal relationships with humans. To be most effective I need to appeal to people across the country along many walks of life, need to be seen by policy makers, animal lovers, and advocates and activists. Therefore, I have plans to photograph at primate centers out of state and other caregivers in different regions to make this project more effective and broaden the subject matter.

Additional ways to support and help the project are to please tell your friends and family about the project and share the link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or any other social media channel.

Some GREAT successes have come from the project due to exposure received in a 2015 article published in NY Times LENS. Funds were unexpectedly donated to Journeys End Animal Sanctuary in Deland Florida, which rescues neglected and abused cats, dogs and farm animals. With your support, I hope there will be many more successes of this kind to come.

If you possess a DEEP COMPASSION for ANIMALS as I do, I hope you will consider donating to this important project.  There is no more important of a time then now to support a project dedicated to animal welfare. Please help me get this message out to others. Your contributions are very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for hearing my story!
