Flow Fest 2018

Hi Friends and Family

Liam Here, recently we were notified at the end of our fall semester at McNally Smith College of Music that our school would unfortunately be closing with very little notice. Our hearts were broken and plans for the future unknown. After many tears shed, Erin and I started talking about possibly playing in Hawaii. I had been entered in a 2 month people's choice voting competition for Flow Fest 2018 (Hawaii's Premiere Music and sustainability Festival) on the Big island of Hawaii, the voting closed Dec.28th. By the beginning of the year we were hit with amazing news that completely knocked us off our feet, we had won first place! Our McNally Community and Global tribe of dreamers had pulled through for us, we were inspired to say the least. This overwhelming sense of community permeated so deeply we knew we needed to not only put on the best show of our lives but represent our community in full force. Erin and I are both very spiritual people and see this moment as a true sign and blessing. A living testament to the saying "When one door closes another door opens".

Hi Erin here, When finding out about the schools closing I felt instantly lost. I tried to find the positive in the closing, as I always look for the good in the bad, but was not having much success. Music was the only thing I could turn to in the heat of the closing to find some type of peace. However, it really wasnt until talking with Liam about a potential Hawaiian tour that I felt that the positive was coming through and the next door had begun to open. I spent the past 2.5 years investing so much of my time into learning at McNally Smith and also into trying to help it grow into a bigger community. I was the Senior Outreach and Events Assistant, so the school closing did not just affect my education, but it also affected my income. As my close friends and family know, I have been steadily holding 5-6 jobs at a time to be where I need to be financially. Losing this job is making it more difficult to have all the money for flights and other travel expenses. The opportunity to go to Hawaii and do what Liam and I both love means more to me than anyone could even imagine. This opportunity is our chance to prove that the community of McNally Smith will continue to work hard and that this traumatic experience will not break us.

The Festival is coming up VERY soon Feb. 2nd-4th and flight prices are going up fast making our need for action VERY urgent!

Please donate what you can and or share with loved ones!

Thank you for your never ending support and love.

Team work really does make the dream work

Xoxo
