We are Norwalk Little League, based in Norwalk, CT. Since 1951, we have provided a fun, safe and educational environment for kids to enjoy the game of baseball. Proudly, we have spearheaded a Challenger Division that has set the standard in Connecticut for inclusion and development for children with special needs. These wonderful kids now play games throughout the spring and summer against other Challenger teams in southern Fairfield county.
For the past several years, our baseball players have lacked the true "signature" playing field that surrounding townships enjoy, instead playing on clay fields with temporary fencing. This has prevented Norwalk from hosting summer all-star district games, with our teams instead playing in surrounding towns throughout the summer tournament.
In 2014, our 10 year old all stars won their District 1 Championship for the first time in our 63 year history. Our 12 year old all stars claimed a District 1 Championship for the first time since 1986. It was a remarkable year - and one that sadly included zero games played in our hometown.
This year, the Norwalk Little League Board decided to invest in rebuilding our Broad River facility - including two brand new grass infields, sprinkler systems, and permanent fencing. This will dramatically improve the quality of play in Norwalk, attract new players to this wonderful game, and allow our town to participate as hosts during the summer chase to the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
This is a large, and expensive undertaking - draining a significant portion of the league's rainy day fund. We are hoping to recoup as much of the $25,000 cost as we can through donations, sponsorships, and the kindness of strangers who love baseball as much as we do.
