No Home and Money From Fire
Short Description:
My fiance's dad died of cancer 2 years ago and his house burned two months after. He had to pay for most of the damages himself in order to sell it despite being told Insurence was going to cover most of it. Now he has NO MONEY for a new home.
Long Description:
My fiance has been struggling with a back and forth battle with his old home that got engulfed with a fire almost 2 years ago (two months after his dad died of cancer). The insurance he had only covered half the amount needed to repair the home (they exclaimed most of the damage was not caused by the fire) and therefore had to lend his own funds to fix the home and sell it as he would not be able to keep up with the mortgage after the repairs were finished. Not only that but his sister was also entitled to half of the homes proceeds as their father (previous and recently deceased owner of the home) never gave a will stating who would own the home. My fiance is also in dept with his mother for paying for his university tuition and car loans and therefore also must pay her back with the house selling's payment (around 17K). Another add-on to the mess are the people who were in charge of fixing the house. They added unnecessary additions to the home and removed undamaged parts (ex. kitchen cabinets) despite being told not to and had to be paid 15K more. This required another loan but from my fiance's sister-in-law's mother. Plus the head of the workers sold property of my fiance without letting him know or telling him it needed to be removed (old boat in the driveway). Finally, new mortgage charges on the home are being billed to my fiance a day before the home being sold and my fiance receiving his cut of the pay. He was planning on getting a new home in the next couple of weeks with that money and now he won't get anything.
My fiance is currently living in his deceased Grandparent's old home that could be foreclosed at any time. He has two house amounts full of stuff (antiques, family heirlooms, 3 cats, furniture, etc.) and doesn't know what to do with all of it. He was planning on renting a home and maybe share it with a friend so that he can keep most of his items. Plus he's paying for a storage shed. Now though, he might not even have enough for an apartment and even then, he'll be losing everything he has including his cats that he's cared for since he was a kid.
-----------------------------------------------------------
We don't ask for much! In fact, my fiance didn't even want to make a GoFundMe. He thought it would be too late but even so, I think every shred of support can be nice right now. We have doubts about this getting much attention but it doesn't hurt to try.
I am also an artist and I do commissions online. I draw cartoons or anything really. I'll be contributing what I can and may do some commissions specifically to help my fiance. You can see my art or social media profiles at www.confusedewe.com .
