Let's get this rescue started!

People always ask me when did you start rescuing? It started in elementary school. I'd bring home the dogs dumped at the bus stop and put ads in the paper to find them homes . My methods have changed -no more newspaper ads lol but I never stopped . I've never not had a foster animal . People ask how many we've saved . We weren't an official rescue so I haven't kept track . I remember most of them but some litters are now vague memories . I haven't kept track but I feel safe saying I've saved at least 500 animals . Mostly cats and dogs but there have been some birds , prairie dogs , guinea pigs , etc . I've also done Wildlife rehabilitation but my focus for this rescue is pets . This is a way of life for us . My husband had never fostered a pet before he met me and it's still hard for him to let them go to their forever homes but he's jumped in 100 percent and is now my partner in that sense as well . We are a rescue . We didn't want to officially become one because that might get the word out and we'd take on more lol . It's happening no matter what we do paper work wise or not . It's time to make it official . We need the tax exemption to continue buying supplies . We need to make our home more accommodating so that we can house more than one dog aggressive dog at a time and still offer them a loving more home type environment than a shelter can . That's the only way to help them get adopted . No pet is going to automatically be an easy fit into a new home if it comes straight from a traditional shelters cage . I've worked my entire life as a veterinary technician and as an animal trainer . I strive to take in animals with issues , help them medically and behaviorally in order to adopt out better adjusted , easier to take on pets .
