NOI DATA BootCamp
Donation protected
My name is Daniel Garcia, I have been working as a community organizer for the past 3 years around immigration, volunteering my time with the Immigrant Youth Justice League in Chicago. I have also been involved as a canvasser for a non-profit organization called Grassroots Collaborative, where I have been going door to door informing residents of Illinois about the affordable care act and ensuring that they where able to benefit from this program as well as encouraging registered voters to get out and vote to make their voices heard.
I have been very fortunate to have been given a spot in the New Organizing Institute Data BootCamp training taking place in Washington D.C. This bootcamp will take place on May 17th through the 23rd and has a cost of $2,000 which will cover the training and the room and board.
I was able to secure a half scholarship that will cover the first half of the training and room and board costs, however I am missing the other half and the round trip flight to make it to this event which will add $311 to the total cost. As a community organizer I volunteer most of my time towards helping the community around me; the skills learned through this training will become an asset towards my organizing efforts.
The skills with creating data driven campaigns will ensure that I am efficient and effective in the allocation of limited resources and gathering information to help in making informed decisions in helping under-represented communities gain a voice. This will not only become an asset for my own development but it will also help me help others in my community.
----UPDATE BREAKDOWN-----
Remaining cost of bootcamp --- $1,000 (NOI secured additiona funding, fully covered)
Cost of flight --------------------- $280 (purchased tickets)
Laptop ----------------------------- (several of you offerd, still following up)
Thank you everyone,
Daniel Garcia
