NMS DI Goes Global AGAIN!

Once again, the Nelson Middle School Destination Imagination team placed second overall in their challenge category at the DIVA State Tournament and, also this year, first place in their Instant Challenge!
Now, the NMS DI Immortales will advance to the highest level of the competition, Global Finals, from May 20-23 in Knoxville, TN.

Coached by Cris Nardi and Rosemary Mahoney, the seven 8th-graders on the NMS team worked for months to create a solution to this year's Fine Arts Challenge: Feary Tales.

As part of their solution, the team decided to write their own time-travelling fairy tale depicting a phobia. Their skit tells the tale of Good and Bad Athena, Greek Goddess of Wisdom, battling her outwit-a-phobia, the fear that mortals have become smarter than she is.
Destination Imagination is a competition in creative problem solving. Teams of 2 to 7 people at the elementary, middle, secondary, or college level work under the guidance of a team manager for several months to creatively solve a central challenge in one of six areas of expertise: technical, scientific, fine arts, improvisational, structural, and community service.
Quickly after the team advanced to Globals, the parents and team members organized to discuss how to raise the over $6000 needed for team members and the team manager housing, food and registration costs, as well as additional $4000 costs of transportation, housing and registration fees for the "family support teams" to get the NMS DI Immortales safely to and from the competition.
Every donation gets us closer to our goal of going to the Global Finals! Thank you very much for your support.
