For years, we’ve witnessed animals in North Carolina who have suffered through harsh weather, neglect, and abuse. During the recent snow storms, I saw countless pets left outside, while local rescues and animal caretakers struggled with overcrowding and a lack of resources. EVERY Animal Shelter in our state is CONSISTENTLY FULL—This means that animals have only a few days before they’re euthanized. Those who did not make it to the shelter were left to fend for themselves in the cold, like the mother dog and her six puppies who were dumped in Elkin—tragically, two of the puppies did not survive. This is just one case of thousands.
While many incredible rescues work tirelessly to save animals one at a time, there is currently no organization in North Carolina dedicated specifically to advocating for stronger animal protection laws and addressing the root causes of this crisis. Our nonprofit aims to change that by bringing together rescues, animal caretakers, and supporters to push for stronger cruelty laws, better enforcement, and real solutions that prevent animals from ending up in overcrowded shelters in the first place.
Your support will help us cover fees needed to register as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, reach lawmakers and community members, organize campaigns to strengthen animal protection laws, and mobilize North Carolinians who want to stand up for animals. Together, we can create lasting change so fewer animals suffer, fewer shelters are pushed past their limits, and tragedies like the one in Elkin become far less common.
