Kat Lazo // A Food Lover with a Dancer’s Heart
Meet Kat. Before being diagnosed with Gastric Cancer, this 20-something old self proclaimed “Proud Lesbian” from Las Vegas had dreams of being a dance teacher. This came as no surprise to her friends and family, as Kat’s zest for life has been evident for long before her diagnosis. Her treatment was long and arduous and yet throughout it all, she kept the spirit of a fighter.
Kat was recently told that she was no longer terminal, and she continues to make life colorful, never turning down an opportunity to dance and make each moment a memory. “Right now, I don’t care about tomorrow. I care about right now, this very moment. For me.”
When asked about how cancer has changed her life she says: “I listen to the signs of life, you know? Sometimes we want things right now and maybe right now is not the time for you ... I have gained this wisdom of accepting the things that are for me right now, and accepting the things that aren’t for me.”
Kat continues to campaign with her hashtag #teamkat, and will funds will be donated to St. Judes Childrens’ Hospital.
