Mubo Ilelaboye Team Canada '21
Hello! My name is Mubo Ilelaboye and I play competitive tackle football in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am proud to say that I have been selected as one of 45 women to represent Team Canada at the 2017 IFAF Women’s World Championship and I would love to be apart of this amazing experience!
I've been an athlete for my entire life. I played a number of sports growing up, with basketball being my core passion for 15 years. At the height of my basketball career, I played for the U of M Bison Women's Basketball team from 2007-2012. But even with all the sports I was involved in, football was never on my radar. Luckily, that all changed April 2016 when I was introduced to football through the Winnipeg Wolfpack and completed my first season with the team playing as Defensive End!
Being new to the sport last summer, my goal was simply to learn my position, train hard, be a good teammate, and out-perform myself every time I went into a practice or game. I quickly excelled being on the D-line and realized that football was exactly the right sport for me. I entertained the idea of one day playing for Team Canada, but I never thought I'd make it this far. To have started a sport less than a year ago and now be selected for Team Canada -- what an honour! My history in sport and experience with the Wolfpack have given me the foundation and passion for taking my football career to the next level and representing my country!
Now that I have reached this goal of making the TC17 National Team, there are costs that come with competing. As players of Team Canada, we are left to fund all expenses for travel, accommodations, and fees during the trip. The $2000 I am raising will help cover the base costs of the trip separate from any money spent while there.
Please help me fund my dream of representing my country this summer! I am grateful for any help and thank you even if you are unable to. Any money raised makes a huge difference and all shares will help as well!
