Our family home has been destroyed and we are left houseless due to a natural disaster. Please help us relocate, recover and rebuild. We have lost everything due to the storm. We are devastated at the loss of our family home, but we are hopeful that we can rebuild.

A powerful monsoon storm blowing through the Valley of the Sun on Tuesday July 9th has destroyed our family home of 75 years. The powerful winds uprooted our 150 foot pine tree which came crashing down  into the house, caving in the roof and trapping our elderly and disabled mother, Ellen Oso.  She has sustained minor injuries and is now in the hospital being treated. Three other family members were also in the home when the roof caved in.  We will need a lot of help to recover, as many belongings were destroyed by the storm, the home has been nearly totally destroyed.  The house was home for seven of members of our family, all sharing duties caregiving for my mom who became disabled in 2009 due to a debilitating stroke.

Watch: 3TV AZ Family Reported the Rescue . We are so grateful to the Mesa Fire Department for rescuing mom!

Emergency Relocation Funds (ASAP) - Temporary Housing - We need emergency funds to support temporary housing to relocate while the building is assessed. We estimate about $5,000 for these expenses.

Recovery/Rebuild Funds (2-3 months) - According to initial reports from City of Mesa officials, the home may be a total loss and need to be demolished and rebuilt. We need support to rebuild a family home that is safe, secure and ADA compliant. Estimated costs-  $150,000.

Other Ways to Help - In-Kind support of building supplies, furniture, new clothing, etc. We can use volunteer support to find resources and help with rebuilding efforts, once it is time. Please contact us if you are interested in helping us to rebuild.

We appreciate prayers of encouragement and support.

Thank you!

Hi Everyone!

Last week had its ups and downs, and we are looking forward to this week coming up. After 3 weeks of shuttling between hotels and AirBNB stays, we have finally found our interim housing!

Praise God and thank you to everyone who is supporting us in this journey. It has been quite an ordeal to find housing for the family that is ADA compliant and in Mesa and a reasonable price. We are feeling very blessed to have found a home away from home.

Now that we have found a suitable option, we are still asking for support. Disability income has been adequate to pay household bills, however now, we will have to pay rent as well. All donations toward the remaining goal will go towards move-in expenses, furniture and the cost to get the family settled including rent, bills, food and the following:

Bariatric Hospital Bed
Twin over Full Bunk Bed
Towels and Bedding

Please consider donating today to help us get resettled and thank you so much for your generosity!

Thank you for your prayer's and well wishes for our mom. She is doing very well in recovering from her injuries, including doing physical and occupational therapy. She is staying strong and in good spirits and is also very very glad that she will be able to be released to come home to be cared for with family when it is time for her to leave skilled nursing. Especially with all that has happened and the tragedy of her lifetime home being severely damaged, staying with family has been all of our desire, as we know it is what is best for her condition and for all of us.

Taking care of elderly and disabled parents is not easy, but it is the way our mother brought us up and a value that she imparted to us. Your generous donations have certainly given us strength and provision to stay committed to this family vision and value.

With best regards,

Ellen's Kids.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you to all the donors and supporters. We are deep into our search for housing and every little bit helps. This week we have to figure out where we can go after our stay at the Air BNB runs out on Friday, and we will also have to cover the expenses of moving into a rental home (praying that will be VERY soon.

Please continue to share and donate.

Yesterday we received a very nice note and $50 donation in the mail from someone who read our story in the East Valley Tribune. This is so encouraging, especially as we wait to get the official damage report and notification of whether the house will be condemned.

We are believing for the best so that mom has a place to come "home" to and the family can be settled and stable while we work on restoring our family home. Especially for the youngest members of our family, like Baby Zayyid!

Thank you so much for your support!

Ellen's kids, grandkids and the great grand babies too.

Hello Family,

Today, we received a beautiful letter in the mail from a supporter who saw our story on the news. We are so grateful to all the donors from far and wide who are continuing to show their love and support. And many have asked for ways to donate without doing so online.

The family is raising funds for relocation and home rehabilitation. The initial goal is $30K, with an estimated cost of $100-$150K for the rehabilitation. There are now two ways to donate:
"Save Ellen's House" Fund at Desert Financial Credit Union - Account: 14007230290400. Name on Account is Andrea L. Fray (Ellen's oldest daughter) Routing number: 122187238.

Go Fund Me - https://www.gofundme.com/monstoonstormdestroyshome to donate online.

Relocation - The family is looking for a 4-5 bedroom home in the East Valley to rent for up to one year while the rehab process is completed. Preferably at a rate of $1,500 per month or less.

Please see attached photo for more information.

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for donating! Also, we really appreciate the East Valley Tribune ( http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/news/storm-felled-tree-leaves-mesa-woman-hurt-and-homeless/article_c7963ed8-8796-11e8-bf86-fb69dff46279.html) for putting Mom's story on the cover of Sunday's edition.

Yesterday we met with the City of Mesa to understand the rehabilitation program process and are now working on the application. It will be a long process for us, so we are also focusing most immediately on finding a home for rent in Mesa, AZ with 5 bedrooms.

Please let me know if you have any leads you can send our way. Especially someone who might be willing to rent to us at a discounted rate. We will use funds from this GoFundMe campaign to pay the first 3 months, or more if we raise more.

Thank you so much, please continue to share and donate! We have received donations from as far away as England!!!

Love and thanks to all who are giving from all over the world.
