Our family home has been destroyed and we are left houseless due to a natural disaster. Please help us relocate, recover and rebuild. We have lost everything due to the storm. We are devastated at the loss of our family home, but we are hopeful that we can rebuild.

A powerful monsoon storm blowing through the Valley of the Sun on Tuesday July 9th has destroyed our family home of 75 years. The powerful winds uprooted our 150 foot pine tree which came crashing down  into the house, caving in the roof and trapping our elderly and disabled mother, Ellen Oso.  She has sustained minor injuries and is now in the hospital being treated. Three other family members were also in the home when the roof caved in.  We will need a lot of help to recover, as many belongings were destroyed by the storm, the home has been nearly totally destroyed.  The house was home for seven of members of our family, all sharing duties caregiving for my mom who became disabled in 2009 due to a debilitating stroke.

Watch: 3TV AZ Family Reported the Rescue . We are so grateful to the Mesa Fire Department for rescuing mom!

Emergency Relocation Funds (ASAP) - Temporary Housing - We need emergency funds to support temporary housing to relocate while the building is assessed. We estimate about $5,000 for these expenses.

Recovery/Rebuild Funds (2-3 months) - According to initial reports from City of Mesa officials, the home may be a total loss and need to be demolished and rebuilt. We need support to rebuild a family home that is safe, secure and ADA compliant. Estimated costs-  $150,000.

Other Ways to Help - In-Kind support of building supplies, furniture, new clothing, etc. We can use volunteer support to find resources and help with rebuilding efforts, once it is time. Please contact us if you are interested in helping us to rebuild.

We appreciate prayers of encouragement and support.

Thank you!

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for donating! Also, we really appreciate the East Valley Tribune ( http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/news/storm-felled-tree-leaves-mesa-woman-hurt-and-homeless/article_c7963ed8-8796-11e8-bf86-fb69dff46279.html) for putting Mom's story on the cover of Sunday's edition.

Yesterday we met with the City of Mesa to understand the rehabilitation program process and are now working on the application. It will be a long process for us, so we are also focusing most immediately on finding a home for rent in Mesa, AZ with 5 bedrooms.

Please let me know if you have any leads you can send our way. Especially someone who might be willing to rent to us at a discounted rate. We will use funds from this GoFundMe campaign to pay the first 3 months, or more if we raise more.

Thank you so much, please continue to share and donate! We have received donations from as far away as England!!!

Love and thanks to all who are giving from all over the world.

Today's update is about the power of community, friendship and working together.

After getting approved for a dumpster in a very short time, we quickly organized a clean up. Long time family friends, neighbors and volunteers as young as 3 years old came together with all of Ellen's kids, most grand kids and even some great grand kids as young as 3 years old to clear out the family home so that a thorough inspection can be done of the entire house and the home could be secured.

The outpouring of support, sweat and tears made for a very emotional, productive and successful cleanup.

Mesa City Councilman Mark Freeman drove up on his forklift from Freeman Farms and Tim from Ideal Cleaning Systems volunteered his services to plywood over the hole and make things more secure from the elements.

All of your generous donations and sharing of the story and supportive media coverage helped the campaign to reach $9,000, we are nearly 30% to the goal! Please continue to donate and share.

The entire family ended the day by visiting Mom at her skilled nursing facility, where her wound will be treated and hopefully she will receive some rehab therapy to keep her active and strong until she can be reunited with the family.

Now that the clean up is done and mom is out of the hospital, our top priority is finding a 5-6 bedroom home to temporarily resettle the family for 6-12 months. Please let us know if you have any reliable leads in the East Valley. We prefer Mesa, because this is home.

Thank you so much!!

More progress made today. Mom has been approved for skilled nursing care to take care of her leg wound from the tree. The family is looking for rental home with 4-6 bedrooms that we can stay together in while we rebuild.

Thanks to the continued support of Scott Crawford of the Mesa Firefighters Union and Mesa City Councilman Mark Freeman and his Freeman Farm's team members, the very large, heavy stump of the tree was removed today. See the pic attached of Grandson Zack on the removed stump. Zack spent the entire day clearing landscaping and putting a protective tarp over the exposed room. Great grand daughter Ana came to encourage him.

Granddaughter Tamika Mollett, who was in the house when the tree crashed in, shared with KTAR - http://ktar.com/story/2139882/mesa-grandmother-hospitalized-after-tree-crushes-home-during-monsoon/?show=comments#comments

Saturday AM, friends and family will gather to clean up the yard and house of belongings so that a thorough inspection and estimate can be completed and the house can be boarded up pending rebuild.

Today was another rough day. We are very grateful to Scott Crawford and the volunteers from the Mesa Fire Fighters and Police union who gave their money, time and labor to remove the over 100 foot tree from the house. The lumber from the tree will be used in a creative project for the house and to raise funds for the rehab. Their heart and dedication were overwhelming and encouraging.

Thank you also to Fox 10 and the East Valley Tribune for sharing our story.

Thank you to Claudia Torres, Kendrick Sampson and Anay Bickham for amplifying the campaign via social media and their personal networks. And thank you to everyone who have promised to give or to hold fundraisers.

Now that the tree has been removed, we will clean out the house of items that are damaged or to be discarded on Saturday July 14. Thank you to the City of Mesa for arranging a dumpster for the clean up.

Though there is a lot of help, there is an even bigger need. We have several urgent needs.

1. Though elderly and disabled, our mom is being discharged from the hospital. We have appealed the decision with medicare. We need a skilled nursing or assisted living facility for Ellen to go to until we find a more permanent home.
2. We need to rent a 5-6 bedroom house in the East Valley that has an ADA accessible room that is $1,500 or less monthly rent.
3. We need contractors willing to work pro-bono or low bono to rehab my mom's house under the supervision of AEH Builders - http://aehbuilders.com/
4. We need funds to pay for the home renovation.
5. Several members of the family are unemployed and need jobs. Are you hiring for any entry level positions?

To be very honest, the process of being displaced, has been very eye opening in that there is not a lot of help accessible within the system when you have a great, urgent need.
Please pray, and also help if you can.
