My Dear Brothers, Sisters, Sakerettes, Classmates and People of Compassion & Goodwill!
PLEASE, read this excerpt from an email I received from my Sister-Friend - ELVIRE BIYE, a Saker Baptist College Graduating Class of 1981 Classmate whom I have known for over 40 years. It left me HEARTBROKEN, and with no other choice but to start this campaign on her and her son's behalf.

“My son Yannick, (now 22), who went to South Africa suddenly developed a complication on his right abdominal side. Initially, it was thought that it was appendicitis, but when blood was found in his urine, he was admitted in hospital on the 8th of May 2017. Since then it has been a terrible nightmare. The family has put everything together for the various tests, 3 scans, various painkillers and then, in June, we were served with the bill attached below for R72880. We managed to pay R22000 so they could continue treatment. He was then readmitted after one week as the pain became unbearable. Light doses of morphine were administered and all the various tests were repeated with two biopsies conducted. With a double operation needed to remove the obstruction at the renal vein and clear the kidney and urethra from the tumor; we need your support, prayers especially.  For my son's surgery in Johannesburg. I need to raise R145,200 without a previous plan. Anything from you will be of great help if you can.
Thanks and may God bless you'

Kind Ladies & Gentlemen, the amount she mentions is the equivalent of a little over 11,000.00 U.S. Dollars, hence the target amount for this campaign.
At a time like this when all, if not most of you are overwhelmed with demands and preoccupations of your own, the last thing Elvire or I would have wanted to do is put one more thing on your "TO DO" list BUT, with YANNICK'S VERY LIFE on the balance, we really do not have a choice.
PLEASE HELP with whatever it is you find it in your heart and soul to give!

It is with a very deep SADNESS but also with very profound GRATITUDE and a little "PRIDE" that I inform you of the passing into eternity at 2 p.m. yesterday in Yaounde, of YANNICK OBAM, CLASS OF 1981's ELVIRE HORTENSE BIYE's son, just 4 months shy of his 24th birthday!
THAT, right there, is where the SADNESS lies! That a MOTHER should lose her YOUNG son who was described as BRILLIANT, WELL-SPOKEN, COURTEOUS, POLITE, WARM and a JOY to be around, by the accounts of EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT MET HIM!!!!
To hear the WAILING of our understandably distraught Sister, ELVIRE and YANNICK's Sister; THAT is excruciatingly PAINFUL!

But then,
Dr. STELLA NWIGWE ANYANGWE (Class of '69) and Dr. DORA SHU MBANYA (Class of '71) made the arrangements for YANNICK's transfer to YAOUNDE, to be under the care of the best oncologist available!
CLASS OF '81 got together, DONATED & VISITED, and so did
CLASS OF 1976's Sis ROSE TAMFU TANYI who actually offered her home close to the hospital for the "REST & RECUPERATION" of the "Gardes Malades", to the point of sending members of her household to hold YANNICK & his Mom's place in the hospital line!!!!
THAT, is the source of my GRATITUDE!!!
At least, ELVIRE can mourn her son without the added BURDEN of feeling she failed him by being incapable of PROVIDING him with the MEDICAL CARE required!!!!!
THAT, is a BLESSING - a distinct SILVER LINING in her cloud of sorrow!!! THANK YOU for the HOPE you gave her!!!

As for the "PRIDE"? It is reserved for YANNICK himself!!!
SON, you FOUGHT & FOUGHT as best you could!!!! You were as BRAVE as they come and soooooo FULL OF HOPE, but this whole "MIND OVER MATTER" thing can only go so far, and your MORTAL body was not at all a fair match against AGGRESSIVE, HARSH & INVASIVE chemicals!!! SO PROUD OF YOU, my boy!!! I didn't get to meet you physically this side of HEAVEN after all, but the day will come eventually, and you will get the HIGH FIVE and HUG!!
REST, REST, REST in the arms of your SAVIOR and do not forget, in the throes of the HAPPINESS, DELIGHT and sheer BLISS that is now yours to enjoy, to ask HIM to BLESS EVERYONE who helped give your family here below, the GIFT of having you around a little longer!!! You know HE is THE ONLY ONE who can truly CONSOLE your MOM and help her find SOLACE and PEACE, so please, ask for that too, will you?
SO LONG, Fiston!
Just posted a FINAL UPDATE on that COMMUNITY PAGE with a brief accounting of the FUNDS collected and disbursed via SakerPride so far.

GREETINGS to you all, this BLESSED Sunday Morning!
As you well know, the scriptures do not just SUGGEST that we GIVE THANKS. They COMMAND us to do so - IN EVERYTHING, because IT IS THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS CONCERNING US!
However, except you have attained an enviable PAUL & SILAS-SING-IN-THE-NGATTA level of SAINTHOOD that woefully eludes the vast majority of us, "GIVING THANKS" is not what easily comes to mind in today's HURRICANE HARVEY & IRMA/MILE 2-9/NO BACK-TO-SCHOOL IN AMBAZONIA/RAMPANT SUDDEN or PREMATURE DEATH via STABBINGS, BOMBINGS, CAR ACCIDENTS, HEART ATTACKS, etc.
That is why, when we actually do have something no one has to urge or remind us to be GRATEFUL for, it is, indeed, REFRESHING and so very HEARTWARMING!!!
How do you watch COMPASSIONATE HUMAN BEINGS rally around someone and, by their PRAYERS, PHONE CALLS, TEXTS, PHYSICAL PRESENCE and FINANCIAL DONATIONS radically TRANSFORM her from a DESTITUTE & DESPERATE Mother to one who now oozes OPTIMISM & HOPE and not "GIVE THANKS"????
Here are the CONCRETE REASONS for that HOPE:
YANNICK's SURGERY in South Africa, which was the first phase of his treatment, went well. Praise God!
However, because the hospital out there in Johannesburg was only able, (due to high demand), to schedule the very vital and urgent second phase of his treatment for 3 weeks to a Month down the road, the VERY WISE & INFORMED decision was made, with his KIND Doctors' approval and with the INVALUABLE INTERVENTION of DOCTORS STELLA NWIGWE ANYANGWE (Class of '69) in South Africa and DORA SHU MBANYA (Class of '71) in Cameroon, to have him transferred to the GENERAL HOSPITAL in YAOUNDE.
So it is, therefore, that our son was seen off at O.R. TAMBO International Airport, (Africa's Largest and Busiest), by Mrs. BIH FOMUKONG ATANGA - President of ExSSA-SOUTH AFRICA, Dr. Mrs. STELLA NWIGWE ANYANGWE and Ghanaian "STAND-IN-THE-GAP MOM" VIVIAN on Monday, September 4th 2017!!!
The picture at the airport shows him sucking on a LOLLIPOP; What is NOT visible in that particular picture, is the CURRENCY - in U.S. DOLLARS, S.A. RAND and CAMEROON FRANCS he had on his person, courtesy of the SAKERETTE SAINTS OF ExSSA-SOUTH AFRICA & ABROAD!!!! Which Currency made it possible for our Sister to, THE VERY NEXT DAY, PAY FOR ALL REQUIRED TESTS, and have our Son actually undergo his very first treatment session!!!! HALLELUJAH, WHAT A STORY!!!!
BECAUSE OF YOU & THE AFOREMENTIONED SAINTS, instead of biting her nails, weeping, gnashing her teeth and wringing her hands in FINANCIAL DESPAIR and MORALE DEFICIENCY, our Sister now enjoys the LUXURY of being able to FOCUS only on getting our son to eat as much OKRO SOUP (ORGANIC FOOD) as he possibly can, so he is fit and able to handle his second treatment on September 29!!!!!
This is certainly one of those SUNDAYS when one "ENTERS HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING" and proceeds to embarrass the suits and dresses off all members of one's congregation who are "unfortunate" enough to be within VIEW and EAR SHOT of one's NO-LAPPA-LEFT-BEHIND Dancing and TOP-OF-THE-DIAPHRAGM Singing!!!!!
Do take a minute to READ THE UPDATE & VIEW THE PICTURES posted at: http://www.sakerpride.com/COMMUNITY2.html
