Mohawk Jr / Sr High School has some amazing kids in robotics!  This year, three of our middle school teams qualified for National level competition in Iowa at the beginning of April!

This is such a fantastic opportunity  -  now we just need to fund it!

Mohawk Jr / Sr High is a tiny rural school located just outside Springfield, Oregon. We have a brand new competitive robotics program that is only in its third year, but has shown real promise as a solid program for the future!

Competing in VEX robotics is not easy - not only must the students design, engineer, and program a competitive robot that can complete a set task, they must have an autonomous program, maintain an engineering notebook, complete and present a STEM research project, and participate in formal interviews with judges regarding their design and engineering process. These teams have been working together since September, and have had some phenomenal success, as well as some really tough times.

Three teams have risen to the top, and recently qualified to compete at VEX Robotics national level competition on April 2-4 in Council Bluffs, Iowa,

We would really love to go!

Not only would this be a fantastic competitive event, but it would allow a group of 12 students in grades 7-8 to have an opportunity to travel for an academic event! Many of the students have never been outside of Oregon, flown on an airplane, or been lucky enough to be a part of a competitive team. A few of the students have never even left the immediate area. Many of these students come from from families with very limited income, and would not otherwise be able to participate.

We are seeking a total of $8000 to pay for these events. Our students will be participating in fundraising activities and work, but our needs are greater than the students can raise through our activities. The funding will cover plane fare, entry fees, and hotel costs, as well as helping with food costs for students who are not able to afford money for meals.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this, and for any support you are able to provide! You are making a difference in the educational experiences of some bright and talented young men and women!

Hey everyone! We are making progress on our goal! I have entered each team in the event ($300 per team) and reserved our hotel rooms. I was able to get a great rate of $99 per room, right at the hotel attached to the event! That is great news! We still need to book plane tickets, and I hope to have that done this week!

Thanks for your help! Keep sharing this around, and encouraging support!

Direct donations can be made right to Wendi Gill at our front desk. Just let her know the money is for Nationals!

Thanks for helping make a dream come true for these deserving kids!
