Miss Grace's journey to recovery

Donation protected
I am a neglect rescue case in Lathrop California. I am very sick. I severely emaciated, I have lack of muscles and I have wounds that got infected down to the bones. I am a mess. We will know more after MGF takes me to their Dr. After I heal and get better I can be adopted out to a forever home. Please help me.
(Update: Heartworm positive and hip dysplasia in both hips)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi my name is Miss Grace. Dr's think I am 2 years old. I am a German Shepherd Dog, Rottweiler Cross (DNA Tested). Full DNA report will be given to my adopted family as well as my complete health records. Here is my story from my POV.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am very young and I had a hard start in life. I was left in a yard for two weeks with no food or water. Nobody knows how I survived. The deep wounds on my legs, ears and neck became so infected and painful; they went right down to the bone. I am only skin and bones with little muscle left.
04/02/2016 My infection down to the bone is deforming my leg.

I was rescued by an organization that did what they could to help me. My serious condition will need long term care so Miss Gabriel Foundation was asked to help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
MGF saw me and my condition, in California, and thought maybe they could help me. It took a month but I finally got my ride to Oregon. Thank you to the "Dods Family" for my ride to MGF! I arrived at MGF on May 10th 2016 to heal up the rest of the way.
05/10/2016 On my way to MGF.
05/12/2016 So beautiful here.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw my Dr on May 13th 2016 to start my diagnosis and treatment plans. My blood work up was perfect however two very serious problems were found. I tested positive for heartworm but in the early stage. I will need one $400.00 treatment ASAP and no further treatment will be needed. The trouble is surviving the treatment but if I do survive I will be cured. Dr says this is why I am so skinny. My abdomen and chest are clear. I have hip dysplasia in both hips. Dr believes with pain management and low weight I can live a long healthy life. A specialist was contacted to confirm diagnosis and both Dr's are on the same page. Dr's think I may never need surgery if proper protocols are followed for the rest of my life. Dr Liana said I am a happy girl. I am to start on supplements right away for joint health. My nails are very long and they need trimmed over time to shorten them. I started on bravecto today. I am continuing to receive all my vaccines as if it were the first time I have ever had them. MGF will schedule my heartworm treatment for next week so that I may have another happy fun week of playing with my new friends and going down to swim in the Rogue River this Saturday. This is because worst case scenario I do not survive the treatment. Best case scenario I do survive the treatment but I will be sedated and kenneled for one month. I will have dead heartworms that can clot and cause sudden death if I get excited.

05/20/2016 Finding my place in the pack.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw my Dr on May 24th 2016 I went in for my two doses of heartworm treatment and an overnight stay at the hospital. I did very well with my treatment but I was not eating much at the hospital. Dr gave me a steroid shot to last a month in case of lung swelling or lung fluid buildup from heartworms dying. Dr sent me home with some antibiotics and some sedation medication for the next 4 weeks. I am to not exercise at all in fear of a dead heartworms clot getting loose.

05/24/16 My 3rd bill is $399.00
(total medical cost to date is $745.40)
05/24/2016 I am not feeling well at all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw my Dr on June 10th 2016 because I am not eating well and I am losing weight. I was given a B12 shot to help stimulate appetite. I was also given pills to help stimulate appetite. I hope to be eating well soon and gaining weight and strength.

06/10/16 My 4th bill is $63.00
(total medical cost to date is $808.40)
06/10/2016 Back at my Drs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw my Dr on June 7th 2016 for my surgery today. I have gained over 4 pounds since Dr saw me last. My heart and lungs sound good. I am ready for my spay. I had my teeth cleaned, nails clipped, spayed, micro chipped and torn tongue evaluated. Dr says no reason to repair it just like my ear. I also had a hernia belly button Dr corrected. I also picked up some medications.

07/07/16 My 5th bill is $162.00
07/07/16 My 6th bill is $40.00
07/07/16 My 7th bill is $5.59
(total medical cost to date is $1,015.99)
07/07/2016 Cone of shame.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr Liana wants to see me frequently, to check on my progress for healing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
As we will show you, my medical costs will be adding up to get me healthy again. I hope you can find it in your hearts and pocket books to please donate to my rehabilitation and recovery. 100% of these donations go into my medical care.

Donations are welcomed and are always needed for the veterinary/daily care of sick dogs like me. By your donations, the neglected cases get to come here into MGF for a second chance.

I did not want to get this sick. I wanted to be loved and cared for. My previous owner let me get this way. My medical bills will be ongoing during my treatments to get better. The hope is to not need a medical plan after I heal and repair. I want to live and I want to find my fur-ever family. It will take a village to help me. I need your help please.

How To Help Miss Grace

Please consider making a small tax deductible donation for my medical care. Also help get the word out and share my plea. Without your help, MGF cannot rescue more like me. Community donations are their only source of funding.

100% of these donations will go to my medical cost. Should my medical bills get paid off, it will go towards my care and feeding that the Howell's are currently paying for out of their personal funds. They are unpaid volunteers. This foundation is their way to help dogs like Miss Gabriel Howell.

Please consider signing up for a $1 or more, monthly reoccurring donation.

Thank you!
