Mimsie's Heart Surgery
Tax deductible
Mimsie, a two year old Chihuahua, ended up at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter late this summer. It was immediately obvious to us that she was a very sick little dog. After seeing a veterinary cardiologist, little Mimsie was diagnosed with PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). Due to PDA, Mimsie has a severe heart murmur – a grade 6 out of 6. She is in heart failure and needs surgery ASAP. With surgery, the cardiologist has given us a good prognosis.

Though Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control (FACC) covers the veterinary care for many of the hundreds of dogs who come through the shelter every year, the thousands of dollars required for Mimsie's life saving surgery is more than we can cover without additional support.
The cost estimate is $2,500 to $3,800, depending on the veterinarian’s evaluation of how to proceed once Mimsie is under anesthesia. Therefore, we are asking you to help us raise $3,000 to cover her care; FACC will cover the rest as needed and has already covered approximately $350 so far for her care. FACC is a 501c3 non-profit and therefore donations are tax deductible.
Once we knew the extent of Mimsie’s heart failure, we put her into foster care, where she is receiving lots of attention and care. She will recover from her heart surgery in foster care and will be available for adoption once she is recovered and healthy.
We will be posting Mimsie's progress on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MCFACC. Please follow her there!
