Single Mom Survives Brain Surgery but Finances in Critical Condition
My name is Michele and I am a single mother of 2 wonderful children. I am thankful to be alive. I could have lost everything in the operating room.
Not long ago, I was a vibrant woman with a successful career. I lived in Atlanta, GA, raising my 6-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son at the time.
In 2009 I started having unbearable headaches. It felt like lightning bolts were striking me in the back & front of my head.
I was first diagnosed with not one, but TWO brain tumors, one small tumor in the back & a large tumor in the front. I was devastated, in a state of shock! My world was rocked!
Before I continue with my Journey I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my story. I want to Thank my dear friends who wrote most of it as they saw it unfold before their eyes. I did updated it just a little :). it was their idea to launch the Fundraiser b/c of the urgent need my family faces at this time & the love they have for me & my children , I am deeply moved by the kindness of " Team Michele". So It is with great humility that I THANK YOU in advance for your help & support with any Donations possible.
It was a complicated situation & doctors say a few surgeries would be needed, including a craniotomy (to remove my skull from ear to ear) & to also have abdominal surgery at the same time to remove my belly fat to plug the huge hole from the tumor and other areas of my brain that had been shifted b/c of the size of the tumor. Even if I survived, each surgery I had the risk of brain damage, seizures, strokes or the loss of sight, memory, sense of smell, taste, balance, issues etc. The information was to heavy for me, so I put my trust in my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. The Brain maker himself.
When I told my children about the large tumor in the front of my Brain they cried so hard! they were stunned! and then said “Mommy, let’s pray.” I thank God every day for their faith in the Lord as children, and I believe it's one of the reasons why I survived such a major complex surgery several months ago. The tumor became in-operable when I first received the diagnosis due to many complications.
It’s been a hard road, & I had to make some hard decisions and lost everything after finding out I had a life threatening-illness. I had to move in with family when I first got to Texas. Then I found an apartment.
After the surgeries, when I left the hospital, I went back to stay with family to begin my recovery journey.
I could have lost my eyesight. I am so thankful that I can still see my children, feel their hugs and hear their laughter. Still, as I continue to heal, I have several medical complications.
The enormous medical bills and day-to-day living expenses continue to pile-up. Making appointments to see so many specialist is exhausting & expensive. Neurosugeon's, Neurologist, cardiologist, Rheumatologist, Gastro Intestinal Specialist, Physical Therapist, Primary Care Physician, etc.
They say more surgery could be on the horizon.

I am not well enough to work full time yet and I feel I have exhausted all my resources. It is very difficult for me to lose my independence—to not work due to my illness, and since the surgery it's been hard to provide for my family. As you learn more about me, you’ll find out before my illness that I’ve always been hard working, independent, and able to meet the needs of my family, so it is with great humility that I reach out to you for help – for any financial gift.
My friends have Persuaded Me to reach out. It was a tough decision for me to make for personal reasons, but it is a decision made after much Prayer. I have to just trust & have faith that I made the right decision with the Lord's blessings. so I am asking for your help and thank you in advance for your gracious support.
I pray that someday soon my story can help others in crisis to know that faith and love can overcome adversity. Until then, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any assistance you can provide. Please keep me in your prayers. I will keep you in mine as well.!
(This is me, as I recover.)
God Bless you all!
