Dear family and friends,
I am currently in passionate pursuit of my lifelong dream to have a career as an opera singer. The most diffucult phase is currently upon me, which is launching into the business by auditioning and doing summer programs to build up a resume and gain experience. Recently I received a very rare opportunity that could be one of the biggest steps toward making that launch. I have been invited by the Miami Music Festival to perform the title role in Giacomo Puccini's timeless comic masterpiece, Gianni Schicchi. Training includes forming a company, applying for grants, developing fundraising and donation databases, etc. I would make invaluable contacts from around the country and even from Australia and Europe. The productions involve a full scale orchestra in the pit, professional directors, set designers, and costumers. This particular program is ranked among the most prestigious, not only in the United States, but in the world. It provides intensive artistic training in vocal technique and staging from some of the finest opera faculty in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand, Glimmerglass, Florida Grand, the Bolshoi, the Royal Phiharmonic, and others.
I have been working two jobs in order to continue with my superb teachers. In the very expensive city of Chicago, I'm finding it difficult to put away enough to pay tuition, which is why I'm reaching out. An opportunity like this is expensive, and anything you would be willing to contribute to help me would be appreciated immensely. The funds should ideally be received by May 1, 2016. Anyone making a contribution of $50 or more will receive a free videorecording of the performance. Support from devoted friends and family members is one of the most cherished things anyone can receive in pursuing a career of this kind, and I would be grateful for your help from the bottom of my heart.
