Melanies Mission To Live
Mel’s PA here, I have been off sick which is why I haven’t had a chance to write anything, and Mel is far too unwell to post anything.
Everything was going well as Mel was approaching the 3 month mark, when disaster struck!!!
When turning Mel, we heard an almighty crack and Mel stopped breathing, about 15 minutes later, Mel then started fitting again, however this time, she couldn’t breath during the seizure!!!
Mel still needs her head pulled to get her out of a seizure, however she is stopping breathing every single time which is much worse than ever before, as she is currently having around 8 a day!!
We have since been in contact with the team in Spain, and we are needing to get Mel back over ASAP.
We are fundraising again for air ambulance, accommodation and covid testing, as we are praying the insurance will cover the operation, so we are trying to raise an additional around 30K.
This is all we know currently as this has all happened so fast and is such a shock to us, so we will keep you updated.
Leah, Mels PA.
Melanie Hartshorn from Cramlington Northumberland is a 31yr old biology graduate whom hit the headlines after graduating from Newcastle university in biology on a stretcher. Melanie’s Mission To Live is a charitable trust fund created to fund the lifesaving neurosurgery she needed, which is not available on the NHS.
Mel had successful surgery in Barcelona 3years ago and went on to recover remarkably, living life seizure free, to the full, and even volunteering in a local school... and helping others in the same position as her with their campaigns.
Unfortunately due to complications during an anaesthetic her fusion was broken and she needed to fundraise again for a revision surgery in Barcelona.
Thanks again,
