This is my friend Cobras story. I have known her for 9 years and have seen the things that she has gone through...the pain....the anger....the depression. And through it all she manages to smile. Her spirit and her quick wit is the things I love most about her. Her medical bills are breaking her. Even with insurance the medication alone is thousands a month. She is going through chemo now. I want to help...and I know if each of my friends donate just a dollar it will go a long way to help her with these medical bills.
"First time I went through this was 2007, it didn't bother me as much then as I had a "cushion". I was okay with losing my hair, even with losing my breast. I maintained a positive attitude through it all. I have both the BRCA 1 and 2 gene. Which puts me at a higher risk of developing cancer. I've undergone 18 surgeries on just my chest alone while battling IBC (inflammatory beast cancer) multiple times. Just when I finally got the all clear from the wonderful doctors I had. I was finally going to be "okay". During the last couple of months I started seeing a wonderful dr that took my concerns and weight loss seriously. First step was doing a pap smear and an endometrial biopsy, and a biopsy on my cervix, and uterus. I return to the dr 2 weeks later to learn that there is cervical, uterine, and endometrial cancer cells present. Immediately scheduled a complete hysterectomy that was done last week. During the surgery there was some minor complications, as in my ovaries grew attached to my organs and the surgeon had to carefully detach the ovaries from my organs and reposition all my organs back into the center. Started the chemo pill today. Due to not being able to get a preapproved for the surgery, or the chemo pill from my insurance, insurance is only covering 50% of the costs. I am able to return to limited work, and it's just not enough to keep me a float and to keep up with the recurring costs. I visit 6 doctors a week and have copays with each one. Only 2 of the Dr's fall under the regular copay, the rest are considered specialist and insurance pays less for them. With all this, depression has taken a hold, and the dr has now put me on an antidepressant that insurance does not cover at all. With it being an INRI medication I can't just stop taking it or switch to another medication, I must continue the medication and be weened off of it to switch to another medication. I return in 4 weeks for another round of testing to determine if the surgery was able to remove all traces of the cancer. If there is no more cancer due to having the cancer gene I will have to continue with the chemo pill for up to six months. Otherwise it will be chemo and radiation. During all this all I really ask for is prayers. I am at peace with whatever God has planned for me."
Thank you in advance for your kind donation. God Bless.
