We haven't known the Riley family for long, but in the short time we've known them they've been nothing but great neighbors and friends, which is why we would like to help them out and get others to help out!
The Riley family consists of Matt, Amber, and their son Aiden. Matt served 4 years in the Marine Corps and with 2 combat tours to Iraq and 3 years in the Army with 1 combat tour to Afghanistan. Matt currently works as a commercial truck driver for TMC transportation.
On April 23rd, Matt Riley was diagnosed with appendicitis and a tumor attached to his cecum. His apendix was 5x larger than it should have been and was perferated, which was causing internal bleeding, a low blood count and deficiencies in multiple areas. The tumor was almost 4 inches in it largest spot. Matt was then taken to Vanderbilt in Nashville for emergency surgery where they removed his appendix, the tumor, and 18 inches of his large intestine(colon); the tumor was later determined to be stage 3 colon cancer. "Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma" is what it was called. Doctors went in lapriscopically, but ended up having to cut into him which left Matt out of work until mid June. Matt was only back at work for a few weeks when his wife Amber went to the hospital for complications at the tail end of her pregnancy. July 1st, the Riley's suffered the loss of their second son, just a few days before his due date. Once again, Matt was out of work. About a week after the loss of Cody, Matt returned to work. Everything was going fine, until after his colonoscopy on July 30th when he started getting backed up due to a small bowel obstruction and things went from uncomfortable to extremely painful. Matt was taken in for a ct scan where they determined it was a medical emergency and needed to send him back to Vanderbilt. Upon further observation they found 3 tumors, which the oncologist believes are all malignant. As of now the game plan is multiple chemotherapy treatments to shrink the tumors before they surgically remove them. Chemo starts this coming week. With all of this slammed on them, Matt will be unexpectedly out of work again and that puts a lot more stress on the situation. I'm asking for everyone to find it in their hearts to donate and help them out in their time of need. No donation is too big or too small. Thank you for reading and thank you for any and all donations.
