A little less than 2 1/2 years ago, we launched to this campaign together on a vision of inclusion, a vision of a society at a crossroads.  I had given one speech, and I put it up here as a video, and for the first year, that was us.  Me, and you all, with a video and a dream, trying to Ignite Inclusion.  Together we've accomplished more than I could've imagined.  More than 45 appearances on two continents, including, just recently, the CCAR and SXSW, with cumulative audiences in the tens of thousands, I think it's safe to say "We Have Ignition."

For example of one of these talks, check out:
To get a broader sense of all of our other work, please visit www.capitalizability.com and/or www.matankoch.com

And yet, the work continues.  A flame ignited must be nourished, spread, and directed.  I'm delighted that the work is growing to include more of these opportunities.  In summer of 2016, I was privileged to train the Reform Jewish youth advisors of Texas and Oklahoma, and in summer of 2017, I will orient not only the Hillel Ruderman Inclusion Ambassadors, but all Hillel new hires that attend the Hillel Institute.  These views are important next phase, a step beyond ignition.
With two years under our belt, it's also time to acknowledge that the vision of this work where it sustains itself entirely on its own revenues still some time off.  Many wonderful people have been quietly underwriting me, and I'm relaunching this campaign to try to broaden the base of support.  If you are moved by this work, please open your heart, and your checkbook, and help me to support it.

Gifts through this page are not tax-deductible, but are critically important in that they help me directly sustain the work.  If you would prefer to donate funds in a tax-deductible fashion, and would like to give to the nonprofit fund that subsidizes individual events in the Jewish world, please visit www.matankoch.com/donate

Thank you for your generosity, and your continuing to help me build this dream.

As my inclusion work continues, I reflected with a friend the other day that the work has moved somewhat beyond ignition. We have made great progress beyond where we were two years ago, and I encourage you to check out the revised page on this link to see just how far we've come. That said, we are still generously supported by individual contributions. While some of these are given quietly and directly, every so often, I reach out to the rest of you ask you to give what you can, and help me to sustain myself as I sustain this work. Check out the information either way, and give if you can. Thanks!

Hi guys. Some of you have probably seen that I have launched a new "sustaining" campaign, but I wanted to create a message specifically to those of you who got me started by your donation to this campaign. Look at all we've done. Visit www.matankoch.com, for just a smattering. Dozens of engagements, large and small. Tens of thousands engaged, I can't get gauge the scale of change, but I hope substantial.

I hope you all feel that you got a return on your investment. startups in the business sphere go through multiple series of capital raises in order that they can grow the business, sustain the business through the costs of growth, and ultimately return more value to initial and subsequent investors.

The value of this initiative is not measured in dollars, but the concept is the same. We could consider the new sustaining campaign to be a second round of investment in the change that this initiative is bringing. So, if you feel like the last year and 1/2 has been a good return on your initial investment, please consider a new investment. You can give to either campaign, but it will better move others to invest if you give to the sustaining campaign, at https://www.gofundme.com/sustaininclusion. Thanks

This will be the last update of this campaign. You are all amazing! In 10 months, you have given over $8000, and together we have launched something truly worthwhile. As the initiative begins to move forward, we are leaving behind the model of crowd funded gifts in favor of tax-deductible donations to help organizations bring me in to speak.

The dedicated fund for this initiative will be housed at Northern Hills synagogue, and will be formally launched in January. Any would like to donate as part of the end of year giving may do so by going to http://www.nhs-cba.org/Donation.htm. For now, choose the Rabbi's discretionary fund and put igniting inclusion in the memo line.

Updates about the initiative will no longer be posted through this website. If you remain passionate about my work, and would like to be kept up to speed on our progress, I encourage you to go to http://eepurl.com/bLlM-1 and sign up for my mailing list. Sign up today for a special New Year's message tomorrow. Thank you again for everything!

Update 20

Friends and Supporters,

it has been an amazing year. In the 10 months since I launched this initiative, I have done 20 events, large and small, with cumulative audiences approaching 10,000 adults and children. It is not yet 2016, and I've already booked at least 10 events for next year, the majority of which are confirmed. At this time last year, my initiative didn't exist yet. Regardless of what happens, I am pleased to say that I have touched lives this year, and the fire of inclusion is kindling.

But, we've reached a moment of truth. I have used the last of the savings of my 10 years of law practice in support of this work, and while I've not quite exhausted the goodwill of those that help me with personal expenses, I would only continue on their support were I looking again at a return to my previous profession. I have seen the lives that I can change in the effect that I can have doing this work, but I'll only be able to continue if you see it too and join with me to make it happen. There are three ways to help:

Book me for speaking, consulting or both

The true measure of success, toward which dollars are a means, not an end,, is the number of people that I reach, and the change that they make. Each new engagement not only raises some revenue to keep me going a little longer, but allows me to go out into the philanthropic world and demonstrate the importance of my work. To those of you in the Jewish world, now is the time to get me on the calendar if you want me to be there in the future. We will work together to think through fundraising, but only if we start the process.

To recipients in the corporate world, I especially seek your help. Unlike my already discounted nonprofit rates, my corporate pricing is designed to be self-sustaining. As the attached flyer shows, I have any number of offerings, both extant and in development, for a corporate audience, but I need a few of you to be my first clients for these offerings to enable my outreach to the rest.

I have attached both my corporate and Jewish flyers, and strongly encourage you to think about opportunities for engagement. Please note that almost all of my Jewish content could be easily repurposed for another faith. Please explore the flyers, or my website, www.matankoch.com, and think creatively about opportunities.

Donate in Support of My Cause

Many of the recipients of this message have spoken of the importance of my work, and the impact that I can have on the world. I may not be able to continue this work beyond currently booked engagements however, without a short-term infusion of funds. A further reality that I have learned since starting this work 10 months ago is that my already discounted rates can be hard for nonprofits and communities of faith to raise. Thus, I am seeking donations to a fund (which a number of you are working on helping me to create) which, in the short term, will support my work directly, and, in the long term, will be used to make grants to congregations and nonprofits speaking to bring me in who find themselves unable who find themselves unable to raise the costs.

Please note that, since the fund is yet to be set up, right now I'm looking primarily for commitments so that I know that continued work is viable. Please respond to this email expressing a willingness to donate a range or specific amount, and I will follow up with you when the fund has been established.

These donations will be tax-deductible. For those who want to help with immediate support needs, I would be grateful for a non-tax-deductible gift at https://www.gofundme.com/matanignites

Part-time work

There is no way for me to continue this work while searching for or holding a full-time job. Even a permanent part-time job would probably be inconsistent with the travel and intense preparatory needs that go into an appearance. That said, I have plenty of capacity for hourly work, especially on flexible schedules while I am building this business. Many of you know my various skills, and I maintain an active law license in New York and an inactive law license, (which I could activate were there reason) in Massachusetts. Essentially, every month that I earn $7000, whether from my inclusion work or from other work, is a time that I can continue this initiative. Keep me in mind, and let's figure out if we can keep this going.

Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope that you find this work as important as I do, and will do it you can to help me keep it going. I wish you all a happy start to 2016.

My very best
Matan Koch
