Malachi’s passion is to pursue his dream as an actor.  Malachi has been acting since he was 2 y/o.  Malachi has been in several school plays and has had the opportunity to perform in a few local plays at the Paul Robeson Theater in May 2010, Vereen’s Academy of Music & Art (VAMA) for Black History Month, Spring & Holiday Cantata (2003-Present) and at The Von King Recreational Theatre, August, 2012 and 2013.  And, to add to his list of credits, Malachi has joined The Brooklyn Children’s Theater.  He has been casted in Hair Spray as Stooie and the News Caster.

Malachi became a Webloes for The Boy Scouts of America (Pack 235) in 2010.  Malachi is also a Junior Life Member of the Brooklyn Branch NAACP, and an active member of the Jamaica Branch.

Malachi is the Co Founder/Jr President of a public speaking workshop for youth.  Townsley’s Oratory Group-Voices (TogVoy) was founded in March, 2009.  Malachi was introduced to public speaking at the age of 9.  The first speech Malachi was given to learn, memorize and recite was a speech delivered by Pres. Barack Obama, when he was senator, at the MLK national memorial ground breaking which was delivered November 13th, 2006.  Since then, Malachi has memorized & recited several other speeches, and addressed many audiences.

In 2010 and 2011, Malachi’s entered the 26th & 27th Annual MLK Essay, Poetry & Art Contest.  Malachi’s essays won 1st Place both years.  For the 2010 contest, the topic Malachi chose was ‘Describe how Dr. Martin Luther King would advise us to deal with “bullying” at school.’  Malachi chose this topic because, as a student, who has been the victim of “bullying”, violence and harassment in school (since the second grade) this was quite personal to him.  As an orator, Malachi would like to become an ambassador for Anti-Bullying and Respect for All Week.  Malachi says, “I would love to go around and visit schools and talk to the youth!  I would love to start my own ‘Anti Bullying’ campaign.  I want the youth to represent one another.”

As a 2012 alumni of the People to People Ambassadors Program, Malachi toured England, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and The Netherlands as a student ambassador representing the USA.  Malachi also represented the NAACP Jamaica Branch Youth & College division as a Delegate at their 2013 Annual National Convention in Orlando, Fl.

On January 12, 2014, Malachi Aaron Townsley was honorably asked to be the Master of Ceremony for the Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony for Honorable Laurie Angela Cumbo, Councilwoman for the 35th Council District in Brooklyn, NY.   (Possibly making history as the youngest Master of Ceremony for an Inaugural Ceremony.)

In addition to the many awards, citations and recognitions, Malachi is also the recipient of the 2013 Harambee Award presented by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc-Brooklyn Chapter.  Malachi is also the Silver medal winner for the 2013 NAACP Act-So Competition (Local) for the Oratorical and Drama Categories.
