Maywood Education Fair 2016

The Maywood Education Fair—an event bringing the community of Maywood opportunities and resources for highly motivated students and committed parents. With your donation, you can make infinite possibilities for the underserved community of Maywood.


Originally a student’s class project, the 8th Annual Maywood Education Fair has evolved into an event hosted by the graduate students of the Master of Science in Higher Education program at California State University, Fullerton in coordination with the College of Education and the Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership.


It focuses on using the community’s cultural wealth for communal and holistic learning, and ultimately aims to develop a college going culture.  Over the years the size and number of attendees has increased.  However, the Educational Fair continues to use theory and cultural frameworks while involving Maywood’s community leaders to impact the city.


This is where we need you: Scholarships, Programs, and Workshops!

You can help us by making a donation so we can reach our goal of $10,000 for scholarships, supplies, equipment, and the logistics needed to make the event a success.


Its Impact: The Maywood Education Fair is our opportunity to demonstrate to students and their families how pursuing higher education is possible. The fair awards numerous scholarships to outstanding and deserving high school graduates. Maywood is a largely Latino community —low-income and underserved.  Approximately 48 percent of students from Maywood and its surrounding communities graduate from high school.  Only a small percentage pursue higher education.
