“Crickets sang a sweet lullaby in harmony with the frogs. For a few fleeting seconds, the world had disguised its hidden horrors with tranquility. An illusion halted by a looming fog...”Alyssa! Megan!” Daddy’s voice rang out as I was hit by intense heat...”
On April 5th, 2018, the Glover family was struck by a devastating blow. The house fire brought great losses: their fur babies, most personal possessions, and peace of mind. The year has been tough to counter the residual effects. While being displaced there was an increased workload just to make ends meet as they awaited the services covered by insurance. It’s been a long process, but not one they have not managed to tackle with strides and beautiful smiles.
Allow me to fast forward to the morning of December 10th, 2018. Will Glover, known as Daddy by five wonderful children, was found between his patrol car and gas pump by a fellow officer. Don’t allow your mind to wander to thoughts of nefarious action. A review of the security footage would show Will slump and fall. It was approximately nine minutes before he was found, and shortly thereafter to receive first responder care. Soon everyone would learn the diagnosis, a ruptured, dissecting aneurysm located in the back of his brain.
The amount of support from his family in blue, hospital staff and the community has been unbelievable. While joking with others, I swear this hospital has to be the safest in the whole Southeast. It is truly noticeable that Will has touched so many lives throughout his work and life. People have traveled across the Country to come and stand by his side: First responders, U.S. Marshalls, FBI and others. A list so long, I am certain I could never capture it all. The Glover family now awaits the corrective surgery. The aneurysm is in a difficult location and complicated by other anatomical issues. The road ahead is going to be long and filled with obstacles; nothing this community cannot overcome.
Please join me in lightening the burden for one of our own and his family...
Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
