Hi, I'm Miguel Chacon from Venezuela but currently living in Germany, it's a pleasure for me to have this initiative to collaborate with the dream of my friend and dear colleague Linmar Piña, the money raised here will be sent to Linmar via western union so she can cover her maintenance needs (food, transport, winter clothes) during your stay in Paris, France. Hello to you who read this, my name is Linmar Piña and I’m here to tell you that my heart is going to explode for happiness. Do you want to know why?
I’m from Barquisimeto, the land where all the people say Na’guara. When I was a child I wanted to study to be a scientist, and when I was 16 years old I had the opportunity to became one. Now, I’m physicists and currently I’m a Physics master degree student at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research. Since my childhood I’ve worked hard to overcome all the typical prejudices that our culture wraps us (be poor, be a woman, neither have access to a telephone nor the internet until I arrive to the university, etc.), additionally to all the requirements that are required for the Physics’ understanding. Since if something is in your mind, also is on your world.
Although my passion always was the theoretical physics, I was scared of it, I tried other disciplines but none of it filled my curiosity until finally, I decided to immersing myself on the this world. Now I work in theoretical physics particularly on Quantum Information. If I had thought about two years ago of this, would have been a crazy idea. It has been wonderful, I feel so happy for dedicating myself to this. And to add a little more to this happiness, as if overcome myself step by step wasn't enough (and here comes the news that I came to tell you), I was selected to participate in a Trimester on Quantum Information Analysis at the city of love: Paris, France, in The Institut Henri Poincaré where Cédric Villani is the director, with some of the smartest minds in the area and in the city that I always dreamed of knowing all my life (besides can practice my English and know the French).
Quantum Information Theory (QIT) is a rapidly developing field whose significance ranges from fundamental issues in the foundations of quantum theory to new state-of-the-art methods for secure transmission of information. The potential for powerful new methods of computation, data transmission, and encryption has led to new perspectives on such entire fields as computational complexity and Shannon information theory. Work in this highly interdisciplinary and competitive area overlaps many different fields of mathematics and has widespread applications in fields like computer science and physics.
Well, thanks to all the support of wonderful people who join to your dreams as if these were their own, I already got the air tickets and the lodging for all the trimester. I just need money to pay my health insurance, my VISA, the transportation inside Paris and the food for the whole trimester. So, I see you there (dreamer of the world) and I invite you to take part of this new adventure that the life gifted to me and that only the dreamers like us can understand and can allow it.
As a good dreamer, I not only dream with a better future for my country, but also with a better future for the world. Among all the options that as professionals reach us I decided to make my dreams true on my country, my Venezuela. And while nowadays the living in Venezuela is difficult, today I have the opportunity of growth and return to help with the improvement of my team, additionally to offer this acquired knowledge to help the formation of the young scientist like me.

Hola soy Miguel Chacon de Venezuela pero actualmente viviendo en Alemania, es para mi un placer tener esta iniciativa para colaborar con el sueño de mi amiga y querida colega Linmar Piña, el dinero aca recaudado será enviado a Linmar vía western union para que ella cubra sus necesidades de manutención (comida, transporte, ropa para invierno) durante su estancia en París, Francia. Por favor unamos esfuerzos y ayudemos a Linmar. A continuación ella cuenta su historia:
Hola a ti que lees esto, me llamo Linmar Piña y te cuento que tengo el corazón que me va a explotar de la emoción ¿Quieres saber por qué?
Soy de Barquisimeto de la tierra del Na’guara, Venezolana de pura cepa. De pequeña quise estudiar para ser científica, y a los 16 años lo logré. Ahora soy Físico y actualmente estudiante de maestría en Física en el Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC). He superado con esfuerzo desde mi niñez los prejuicios típicos que desde nuestras culturas nos envuelven (ser de escasos recursos, mujer, no tener acceso a internet/teléfono hasta la universidad, etc.) además de las exigencias mismas del entendimiento de la Física. Ya que creo que si algo es capaz de gestarse en tu mente serás capaz de materializarlo también en tu mundo. Aunque mi pasión siempre estuvo orientada hacia la física teórica, le tuve mucho miedo, hasta que de tanto probar en otras áreas nada satisfizo mi curiosidad, y terminé por sumergirme en ella. Ahora trabajo en física teórica en Teoría de Información Cuántica. Una locura si lo hubiese pensado hace dos años atrás. Ha resultado ser maravilloso, me siento muy feliz de dedicarme a esto. Y como si fuera poco ir paso a paso superándome a mi misma (aquí viene la noticia que vine a contarte), quedé seleccionada para participar en un Trimestre de Análisis de Información Cuántica en la ciudad del amor (París), en el Instituto Henri Poincaré donde Cédric Villani es el director, con las personas que son expertas en el área y en la ciudad que toda mi vida soñé con conocer (además de poder practicar mi ingles e introducirme a un nuevo idioma, el francés).
La Teoría de la Información Cuántica (QIT) es un campo de rápido desarrollo que abarca cuestiones fundamentales en la teoría cuántica hasta métodos de última generación para la transmisión segura de información. Potencial para nuevos métodos poderosos de computación, transmisión de datos y encriptación ha llevado a nuevas perspectivas a campos tan complejos como la complejidad computacional y la teoría de la información de Shannon. El trabajo en esta área es altamente interdisciplinario y competitivo se superponen muchos campos diferentes de las matemáticas y tiene aplicaciones extendidas en campos como la informática y la física.
Gracias al apoyo de personas maravillosas que acompañan tus sueños como suyos propios, tengo los pasajes aéreos y el hospedaje para el trimestre y medio completo (ya que la escuela se realizará desde Septiembre 4 a Diciembre 15). Me hace falta dinero para pagar mi seguro médico de viaje, los trámites de la VISA, transporte interno en París, artículos necesarios para mi resguardo dada la temporada en la que llego
y mi comida por el trimestre y medio completo. Y es aquí donde te veo a ti (soñador del mundo) y te invito a formar parte de esta nueva aventura que me regala la vida y que solo los soñadores podemos entender y nos lo podemos permitir.
Como buena soñadora, sueño no solo con un país mejor, sueño con un mundo mejor. Entre todas las opciones que como profesionales se nos presentan, he decidido hacer mis sueños realidad en estas latitudes, mi Venezuela, donde pese a la situación excesivamente difícil en la que nos hemos conducido como país, hoy tengo la oportunidad de formarme y volver para enriquecer el grupo de trabajo al que pertenezco y ofrecer mis conocimientos en la formación de jóvenes científicos como yo. ¡Se parte de esto conmigo!
