Lexie's Journey

Lexie & her family have a long, hard battle ahead of them. Although nothing can make this situation for the family better, anything you are able to donate will help them throughout this journey. The money will be used for portions of her treatment considered experimental and not covered by insurance. Anything raised above the out of pocket expenses for Lexie's care will go towards supplementing the family's decreased income while they focus on Lexie's needs. **Late afternoon on Wednesday June 7th we got news that turned our world upside down. Our Lexie received a diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer. What we initally thought was an abscess in her throat is actually a tumor. Since then there have been more tests done to help the Drs make the best treatment plan for our girl. The results will be available next week and once her medical team has all the information we will know what the next steps are. We do know her treatment will include radiation of the tumor and chemotherapy as it's not able to be removed surgically.
We will be here at Children's Mercy in Kansas City for treatment and as her Attending Physician says her goals include seeing her graduate High School and then College.
To say this has been a nightmare you can't wake up from would be an understatement. Our new motto is "One Day at a Time" which to us means we wake up ready to fight whatever that day holds and we will continue to fight every minute of everyday. We have a strong family and support system to lean on and know we couldn't do it without you all.
We wil post again once more information is available but figured this would be the easiest way to keep everyone updated.
