Let's Help Adam & His Family!

Donation protected
Hi everyone.  My name is Carrie Ann Kent and I have set up this Go Fund Me account for my sister's family, and more specifically, her husband - Adam.    They all could really use your help right now.

Adam is an amazing husband to my sister Jennifer and one incredible father to my niece.  Unfortunately, Adam is suffering from a serious form of kidney disease and is in much need of a kidney transplant.   Both of Adam's kidneys are functioning below 20% so a transplant is considered to be a life-saving surgery.

After Adam's diagnosis, he began the long arduous process of waiting for a type "O" kidney.   In Ontario alone, there are over 1,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant and the average wait time is 4 years.   The reality is this, Adam doesn't have 4 years.   So because of this, his wife Jennifer began the testing this fall to see if she could be a donor and so far, the results have shown that she is a match.   Adam's health has deteriorated to the point where he can no longer work full time and should the transplant surgery proceed, this will mean that both Adam and Jennifer will spend at least one month in hospital away from their daughter and several months after at home recovering before they both could work.

The transplant surgery will take place in London, Ontario.  Throughout the summer and fall, Adam and Jennifer have been travelling back and forth to attend medical appointments, consultations and testing.  There have been many out-of-pocket expenses that have arisen including travelling expenses, accommodation, medication costs and more and once the transplant takes place, there will be many more appointments to come.

With Adam and Jennifer both off work,  my goal in setting up this Go Fund Me account is to help minimize at least one of the worries of this process for them both.   I want them to be able to concentrate on their healing and supporting each other as well as their daughter throughout this medical crisis without having the burden of financial concerns as well.

It would mean the world to me, my family and especially Adam and Jennifer if you could help them out in this time of need.  If you know either of them, you will know that they are humble, proud people who wouldn't ask for help, but they are in need and we would be incredibly thankful if you could contribute whatever you can to their cause.  Even a small contribution will go a long way in helping Adam and his family out.

I would appreciate it if you could share this campaign with your family and friends and anyone who knows Adam.  Together, we can really make a difference for this wonderful family.   I am so sure of that.

Again, however you choose to help, our family thanks you so much and we appreciate your contribution from the bottom of our hearts.

On behalf of my entire family, thank you.

Carrie

PS - I will continue to update you all on Adam's health.  In the event that Jennifer is unable to be a donor for Adam, they will continue to wait for a donor kidney.  If you are interested in finding out if you could be a potential match for a live kidney donor for Adam, it's relatively easy to begin the process.  You can start by contacting the "Living Kidney Donation Program" at University Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre either by phone at [phone redacted], ext 33552 or by email at [email redacted].ca.   You will need to complete a medical and social history questionnaire and provide confirmation of your blood type.  A blood test for this can be arranged through your family doctor or the Living Donation Program.  Your blood donor card is also acceptable.
