Laura's Cancer Battle

I was diagnosed with stage 3, colon cancer in Sept. 2017.  I have undergone surgery, chemo and am still in treatment.  More testing is required.

Recently,  my youngest sister, Becky, was diagnosed with stage 2, breast cancer.  She too has had surgery and is about to undergo chemo.

We lost our middle sister, Kathi, to Stage 4 breast cancer (6 years ago in June; she was just 37).

The donations will pay off extensive medical bills as well as continued specialist appointments, testing and lab work.

Cancer doesn't discriminate.  Doesn't care about your age, family or finances.  Insurance doesn't cover anywhere close to what is required to fight this disease.

Cancer has destroyed our family.  Our father and sister lost their cancer battles and my mother survived hers, only to pass away from possibly undiagnosed colon cancer.  Now the last two family members have to fight for survivial.

I know our lives our in God's hands and prayers are much appreciated.   Thank for taking a moment to read about our battles.

Still waiting on testing.....However, I just learned my youngest sister now has Stage 2 breast cancer. She has the same strain that took my other sister's life.

While I still need donations, if you could share the link so we can help her too, I would appreciate it. Cancer has hit ever single person in my immediate family. We need to catch a break. My sister and I are the only two who remain.

I have officially stopped chemo. I only have 3 days left and I can't bring myself to take any more poison. I have no idea if it's working. I can't find a doctor in my area that I trust. I have testing to do, that has yet to be ordered. My veins won't even give blood anymore. It was challenging before and now it's near impossible.

Sutter Health is a horrendous insurance plan. They offer little to no support and have minimal services for Solano Co.

So, here I sit and wait to see if the poison has done to "fix me". Limbo is my new normal. When and if I can afford testing, I'll post a new update.

I haven't posted the link in several weeks; didn't want to over-post. Treatment is still progressing. Sutter insurance is less than stellar and treatment could be better. Labs, appointments and testing are still taking place. It's hard trying to make sure there are enough funds. One MRI (and I need other testing too) is $375. So far, I've put it off, because the chemo meds and appointments need to come first.

I wish it was better news. I'm in limbo and sadly, I don't any better news to report. I appreciate all the support I have received. Being overwhelmed and exhausted is my new 'normal'.

Thanks to everyone who has donated/shared/supported me in this latest challenge. Still fighting....

I truly appreciate the support. Dealing with the medical professionals and insurance is extrememly stressful. The generosity of those who have donated have taken some of that stress off our family. Thank you!!!
