Miss Kentucky 2015 Pageant

Donation protected
Well, almost a year later and just months away, I’ve started for the second time putting the pieces together to the Miss Kentucky Pageant Puzzle….just without a blind fold on this time! Last year was my first time even attending the Miss KY, or any state pageant as a matter of fact, and I was IN IT! Talk about a crazy, overwhelming, exciting, nerve-wracking, intimidating, fun, incredible journey!!

Last year, when I say I had no idea what to expect, that’s probably an understatement. I think my journey started with, “wait, I have to put that butt glue where…?” and ended with “hey! Can someone please glue my butt.” I entered into a world I literally knew next to nothing about but little to my knowledge had been living for 22 years.

Never would I have ever imagined I would receive such an overwhelming amount of support from my family, friends of my family, my parents, my parents friends, my parents friends friends, my friends, my community, my co-workers and just about everyone in between. It was overwhelming to hear so many people say they were praying for me, that donated, many anonymously, that showed up to every pageant I was in both last and this year, donated baskets and items for the silent auction, the list goes on and on.

This year, I go into this journey again with the same amount of overwhelming support but without the blinders on. I know what it’s like to be under the lights, how to walk the stage, what the interview process is like and most importantly, I’ve found the best side of Larkin I have. Many of you know my story and how I ended up where I am at this very moment. I hope you also know how important and treasured my life and those I share it with is to me. This is the path that was undoubtedly chosen for me by someone WAY bigger than I will ever in a million trillion bazillion years even dream of being!

I hold the Miss America Organization so near and dear to my heart and will for the rest of my life. Having a crown on your headed and a sash with a state title doesn’t make you Miss America. How you carry yourself through everyday life, without a crown and sash does. Uplifting others, standing together, giving back to a community that gives so much to you, inspiring strangers, living life and not premeditated postings of it is what it’s about.

As I start the second and sadly final chapter to the Miss Kentucky Pageant, know I go with my head held higher, skills much sharper, eyes much brighter (and thighs much thinner – thank you Chad Crisp). I hope that on July 4th I share my story with others and I have a shiny and eye catching crown with a name tag that so happens to have “Miss Kentucky 2015” and can stand on a soapbox built and provided by the Miss America Organization then, and for forever.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your prayers and support of me in this journey and many more to come!!
